For the sake of being original, I'm going to put down all my current instruments and become a concert Slide Whistle-ist. I'm even going to train to play 2-3 at a time so i can harmonize with myself. I should only need a year of training to achieve this, then Vegas here i come.

Oh, wait, I'm already in Vegas so i guess it's off to the London/L.A. Philharmonics.

I play myself, sometimes with a keyboard, sometimes with a 6 string guitar, sometimes with my DAWs. No matter what I play, it always sounds like me.

On the more serious side, I have to vent about TEDtalks. I blame you Mr. HETISFRANK. Teddy boy, is progressive central. An example why I have a problem with non factual presentations of science of any type, I can illustrate with the talk above. That ding a ling thinks the exponential rise and falloff learning curve, means when you go vertical, it gets harder. It's exactly the opposite. When the curve is going vertical (or exponential) you are at your most productive, learning the fastest.
    The scientific definition is:
"The increase in skill or retention of information is sharpest during the initial attempts, and then gradually levels out, meaning that the subject's skill does not improve much with each repetition, or that less new knowledge is gained over time."

But that time going vertical IS fastest learning, not hardest...I couldn't get passed his harmonica example, so sorry if he fixes his mistake...idk. I did see one TEDtalk showing a cool manufacturing technique that makes current 3D printing obsolete, but it was by accident, and I couldn't stop watching. That scientist, was a scientist. If I wanted a regurgitation of Piaget now with a girl instead of a boy (he did all his kids I think, overall), I would have re-read that.

At least 50% of peer reviewed journal articles are FAKE. Some studies show "89%" were unreproducible, which is THE test of science which means they are FAKE... We are in the dark ages ppl, if you weren't keeping score. A time of universal deceit.

Fact consumers beware, the priest has been replaced by the scientist as your governor's persuasion agent. It's based on the logical fallacy called, "Appeal to Authority" Corollary: If you hear some news reader say, "let's ask the experts" I say, "F U, lying mofos." Don't try to persuade me: Show me evidence, I'll draw my own conclusions. That's also "Appeal to Authority."

Sorry about that, but it pisses me off. At 16, like an idiot, cause I didn't know better, I did grad level research at Mt. Sinai Hospital on the 33rd fl making E. Coli resistant to all known antibiotics, circa 1979. The genius me, didn't realize I was making a bioweapon. [If there's another reason for making completely resistant E. Coli, pls let me know] And I got to do that, only because I couldn't even try to cut rats heads off all day, so I asked to talk to the chairman, and he must have like me. To this day, I feel bad about being so ignorant, because I would have never thought to make something to harm ppl.

    14. As of a few weeks ago, I'm currently learning to sing, too.

I use midi here and there. But if midi were to become punishable by death penalty, the aforementioned instrument skills are what I already have under my belt to keep me producing, and of course, alive. ;)

If you start off with nothing or some odd parts and make something complete, that can be used in some way, the you have produced something.
In this case music. If someone downloads or buts the thing that you have made, they're a consumer of what you have made, therein making you a producer. Whether we are trained or not. With the advances in computer technology the the difference between consumer and producer have become somewhat blurred though.

Sorry asking but exactly which skills for which productions?

Do we want to enjoy the music or live performance? A musician differs from a performer of course. In the composition process (digitally or traditionally) what matters most is the pitch not the timbre of any specific instrument.

This is a big mistake to imply that the best way of understanding or making better musics is just doing them by physical instruments considering lots of advancements in the technology.

1-4 are for recording producing and for live performace.
5-13 are for live performance, only. I played for my school's orchestra once. #14 is only in progress.
I also did not say that this signified better music. Your post title asks "which instruments do you play?" I answered that.
Put the machetes away, folks. I come in peace.

Do you know why I hate pro tools? Because of its "record" button. Recording the lively played instruments and vocals. I also hate any traditional way of making boring musics.

What? No. Like. Hell no. I honestly can't think of a single music genre that pitch is more important than timbre. Especially in classical music. Hell even in chiptunes, what seperates the men from the boys is the timbre.

This thread has not been created for people to list their instruments but just for sullying the electronic producers' reputation.

    How o̶l̶d̶ young are you?
Man, I'm all about love. I can even tolerate hate.
But you're ranting here? To fellow audiophiles? About the unimportant nature of actual physical instruments?

That shit just reeks of fear.

    To each his own.

I need to play some guitar.

I play with my dog, my friends, my gf, my life, thats where the music comes from, instruments
are just piece of wood plastic or what not, that i poke around to create sounds, that then evoke in me,
memories of good or bad times i have, had, in life, songs are like journal entries, melody is captured emotion,
of those good or bad times. The main instrument is you, yourself, your life, beauty is that you dont have to
know how to play it, just play it, and you will learn along, and always will keep learning until the end

Older enough to refute the traditional so called main thoroughfare of making music that has come out of the ark and not applicable in the modern era at least for me.

All instruments and electronic devices are tools that can be used to make music if you are so inclined. The only difference is, the electric power that makes our computers work can and will be cut off in an instant. And at the point those who bottle necked themselves using only electronic means are going to be in for a rude awakening when they can't make anymore music and they are stick with their thumbs up their asses.

And those of us who still can makes sounds at our leisure are going to laugh and laugh while we strum our guitars around the campfire. Besides there something a little more zen about bring sounds to life using only your fingers. Kind of like the choice between using an electronic device when you're alone with a women or your own body parts. And in that case, for my pleasure, I will always choose my own fingers and such.
