If say, theoretically, someone were to make an expansion for Sonic Academy's KICK 2, would you prefer that the content show up in the "DLC" or "Factory" preset folders within the plugin?

For example, what I mean is, when you press the button to bring up the built in selection of "clicks" there are buttons across the top of the popup that indicate the subfolder: Factory, User, DLC, Recent. Would you rather have the content from this theoretical expansion in a subfolder within "Factory" (for easy access) or within "DLC" (where it is more proper, but I fear some users may never discover it)?

This goes for "curves" as well. Would you rather see 3 new folders within the "factory" content (Pitch Curves, Amp Curves, and Click Curves); or would you rather see it within the "DLC" folder instead? Ditto for the EQ curves.

New "Subs" content will have to be located within the "factory" folder as there is no other option. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read this and (hopefully) vote in the poll and submit a comment or two.


This theoretical expansion may happen to include some skins as well. New content in every nook and cranny lol.

Truthfully? I would just be thankful someone had taken the time and effort to create it in the first place. DLC Folder would be my choice also. (For 'curves too')

 

It's my pleasure. I like doing projects like these to keep myself occupied. Gives my OCD something to do lol. It's coming along well thus far. Breaking out my old Trigonometry notes to work on creating some more sub files.

Actually seeing as Kick 2 can do snares. How hard would it be to create a snare like the one here:-

I'd have to tinker with the sub files a bit to get one similar to that one. But it should be able to produce something close. I'm actually nearing completion on all the resource content for the kicks themselves (just have to start making presets)...and I've considered making this project a lot bigger by including stuff for snares, percussion, etc. I might give it a go and see how it turns out. If the experiments are promising, maybe I'll add into the expansion.

The amount of factory presets supplied with Kick 1 & 2 is dismal

I would have liked to have seen well over 1000 to start with -

For real. And the amount of sub harmonic content is meager at best (16 total files). That's mainly what inspired me to start in on this project. My goal is to provide lots of subpresets, resources (like clicks and sub files), eq presets, and presets--so that people can kind of call up subpresets and tweak around to get something cool. I feel like the plugin itself is marvelous but was released with very little content to showcase what it can really do. Which is a shame.

 

It this suppose to be a commercial pack?
If yes some of us will be glad to support. you've done quality stuff before.

 

This one is gonna be a free one. But I might do some commercial ones in the future.

 

UPDATE: I've been making solid progress on the expansion. I'm nearing the stage where I can send out unfinished copies for beta testing. PM me for more details (don't want to talk too much about something that isn't totally finished yet). One thing I will say is that it's a pretty ambitious project--and should be a lot of fun to play with when it's ready for final release.

 

The beat that the snare falls on, also has a synth hit too... are you talking about just the snare?.. or both?.. or had you not considered it?

Man... that dissonance at the very beginning?... I LOVE THAT!!!... I'm huge fan of hitting two keys that are right next to one another, and using that for pad track... it's the fastest way to immediate darkness and tension. It's got to be THEE number one inspirational sound for me personally. Even if I won't use it in a said "finished" track... I frequently start with, say an F and F# playing at same time... and both just sustaining with no interruption, albeit a fade out 16, or 32, or 48 bars later etc.
