NYRV updates AGENT 1.4

OMG! WTF! How long has this been available???

 

We have been around since May 2015. and continue to make improvements. Major upgrades being worked on even beyond 1.4.

I just wanted to show you what a friend and I have been creating for AA Nebula using Nyrv Agent.

This is Blue 1102 from Tim P, it's the full Neve 31102 EQ, this allows you to use Nebula sound quality with a modern workflow.


We also have the Alex B PoolTeQ finished, and the workflow is on point. Agent is the ONLY program that allows a standard workflow with Nebula IMHO.

Yes, we did add an extra mid band.... because we can in Agent, and you can always use more mid bands, lol.

Jeff at Nyrv have been very helpful with us Nebula users, adding needed slot naming features and the new preset system. He's a small developer that we should support.

What were your expectations?

I've used all 3, Patchwork and Bidule are nice, I prefer Patchwork myself, but neither of them allow for the GUI building using multi VST's the way Agent does. As tools, all 3 have a value for what each can do, discounting a tool based on you expectations limits your possibilities.

Or as I like to say.....
"Expectations are your enemy, learn to defeat your enemy and everything in life gets easier."

 

The 1.5 update will be huge, very good things are ahead for Agent!

 

You may need to restart the scanning process a few times for it to complete. We have not achieved 100% compatibility with every plugin out there but you will probably find that it is actually loaded when you go back into AGENT after scanning has finished.

 

This is a very interesting vst. Specially because of the virtual connection flexibility, and the fact that you can save and use in another DAW any combination made with it..

 

As this is not the norm, I would suggest you send in a crash report ticket to Nyrv support. Jeff is very good about helping users fix issues.

 

I already uninstalled it and will wait until 2.0 to give it a try again- against its competitors (DDMF,MiniHost,Bidule,BC Patchwork).
It still has the potential to beat them- by not forgetting the new to build smart midi/automation - part/(visual API, or simple dropdowns).

We have enough audio SFX VST stuff out there. It's all about midi connectivity, compatibility, combining and mangleling.
Once implemented, OSC-support would be ultra smart.

We don't need the next 1000 LFO driven audio filter banks.

We need to combine our favorite high tech gear at midi base on a maximized compatibility level at parameter base, since 90% has already midi learn.

For example, on midi object base (visual API) we could build things like this on our own.

There would be another million creative options- for already existing audio FX stuff too, just using there existing midi-interfaces on proper, innovative ways (standard task like channel splittings, CC-scalings etc.).

Hi All,

We have released a maintenance update. AGENT is now in version 1.4.1 and we have fixed a number of issues with multi threading and preset sharing. with the updates on multi threading we should be more stable on any host.

interesting work Jeff, thanks for stopping in. how would you say Agent's end sound quality would stack up in a benchmark shootout?
I've been a fan of hosting since Brad's early work with cantabile and tobybear's minihost, and simple vst host and many good guys. the functionality has recently gotten more attention, and now DAWs are internally sub-hosting too.

to compare Agents features and function against other similar products isn't really fair, only Agent compares to Agent. but at the end of the day things like CPU load, clarity, headroom, lag, workflow speed etc are worth comparing

 

I've been trying out Agent but for some reason the scan keeps crashing. It seems to then blacklist these in the bold red forn at the bottom of the list. If it was only one or two, that'd be fine, but there seems to be tons of them (as in into the tens of many) and also quite high profile plugins, like the Arturia and Waves ones.
