    as simple as that...
what really bothers me, is how risky RAID 0 really is, and is it worth the risk?

You can add 2 more discs to do a RAID 0 + 1 then you add the security.

great for speed but has no resilience...good if you need speed and you do daily saves to ultrium type tape etc...

raid 10 every day if you need 100% safety (i know not 100% but good as) and still good for speed!

I'll tell you right now, I had a server running Raid 0 with 6hdds and I had just finished installing Windows 2008 R2 and configuring my network (this happened a couple of years ago) and I had some friends over at the office. This was a Dell PowerEdge 2850 (U2) (which I still have) and it has 6 hotswap trays in front with 6x 36GB 10,000RPM hdds and one of my best friends comes to where the server was laying and where my workstation was and goes... what does this thing do? and pulls out one of the hdds lol. Needless to say the whole raid went corrupt (server was running when he did that) so raid 0 is only as reliable as your weakest hdd. When that one fails, it's all gone petetong. So that was my lesson on redundancy lol. I had to reinstall everything all over again haha
