    Hi,
I like to install Win 10, right now I have 7 ultimate non legit on VM.
I tried several versions of kmspico, removewat.. but they don't work, only give me headaches. I have been on OSX for the last couple of years, but now I'd like to experience Utopia..

So any good sources or info would be welcome, probably already have a couple of Trojans )-:
You can start a private conversation if you like..

    Thanks..

(If the subject is not allowed, let me know..)

    Hey there,

First of all, always install Windows from scratch. Upgrading directly from a previous version will most likely cause many issues.

Regarding the activation, kmspico always worked fine for me. If it doesn't for you, go to a torrent site, type something like "windows 10 activator" and browse around the most seeded torrents. Download the newest/most seeded files and give them a try. Always read the comments before downloading, to avoid possibly infected files.

As for keeping Windows 10 neat, the best protection combo, in my opinion, is to use it's native Windows Defender anti-virus, Hitman Pro anti-malware (configured to scan on every startup) and Glasswire firewall. I've been running this combo for quite a while and haven't acquired no viruses or malware whatsoever during this period.

Remember to install Ghostery and uBlock Origin extensions on your browser. It helps a lot.

    R.

Thanks RM. I know about the clean install, but wanted to take advantage of the Msoft offer for a free 10. But for that I need my 7 to be registered. The Pico's I tried returned an error. It seems because I run 7 Ultimate OEM..

KMS activation/licensing is for enterprise installs (mass deployment, basically). OEM installs are tied to specific "royalty" vendors. In other words, they're locked to specific motherboards that have particular info written in the SLIC table.

Windows 7 can be authorized via SLIC table manipulation/emulation. It's a much better solution than KMS (which needs periodic refreshment).

Thanks @Rasputin! I got to this page: https://techdoors.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/activating-windows-7-oem-way/
I followed the instructions, all went well (I think), and the last step returned the screen print below. After restarting, the 'not genuine' is still in the corner..

EDIT: after restarting, a 'Windows Activation Client' shows up. Should I let it install and enter the digits found in the OEM keys?

I am not allowed to post the link for this particular site for obvious reasons. But if you look for avaxhome on google, you can get a copy of 10 outright with keygen there.

You're welcome. The proper way is to get Linux Mint.
    https://www.linuxmint.com/
It's free, faster and more secure than ANY windows O/S

People who upgrade to Windows 10 for free should remember that it's a MS scam to get them on the bandwagon... to Auschwitz.
They are going to make loads of money on W10, somehow, be sure of that, and users will have to pay for it, somehow. Think about it, and we'll discuss it when MS starts milking their users. Could happen this year or the next. They'll have your balls on a plate once you're on W10. Keep your W7 installation somewhere safe.

Sorry to poop on the party. Just throwing some reality check into the equation with no mean intentions, only trying to help.

    Cheers!

@SineWave: you're talking payed updates or plans? Maybe.. 'There's no such thing as a free lunch' is what they say - the money's gotta come from something, now I think of it. A little late, true.. But if I use a product daily I could live with a reasonable fee. Just found the starting price too high..

No problem @boomoperator , I'm glad it worked.
And I think what MS will do (and already does) is banking on collecting Windows 10 user's data.
If you upgrade to Windows 10 you should probably check online how to remove/disable the spying devices on this system, and be carefull to control which updates you install.

Using a Linux OS for Internet with default configuration is more secure than Windows mainly because it is not a targeted platform for malware and hackers. However, if you take an extra step and make the Linux OS you use more secure, it can be a very secure OS indeed. It's just that you have to learn a few things about it, as with any OS. :winker:

Also, various Linux distributions are more secure than others. That's why I use Debian because it is quite secure by default, and even more with a few adjustments [Firewall, SE Linux]. Mint is fairly new in comparison to Debian... if you get my drift. That's also why I don't recommend Mint, nor Ubuntu to anyone.

But the first sentence I said is quite important and quite true, so both Mint and Ubuntu are far more secure by default *currently*. As OSes get more popular, they get targeted more.

Now that you mentioned it, I got reminded of the Matrix "pill scene". :winker:

Will you take the blue pill and keep using Windows exclusively, or take the red pill and become an OS agnostic prepared for everything that happens? I mean what happens if they make Windows into something you really really don't like? You have to be able to use something else instead. Better start sooner than later, eh? :winker:
