Great. From now on, when you install Sound Forge, you will get a customised Magix calculator, picture viewer, music player, video player, rich text editor, Firefox browser, CD burner, DVD burner, a lollipop, a mousepad, Magix stickers in 6 different colours, and two tickets for an ice-hockey game in Zimbabwe.
a lollipop ? stickers ? Sold !!! plaisanteries mises à part Am I the only one who is "a bit scared" about this news ? What will they do with Sound Forge ? From Sonic Foundry to Sony, I wasn't "affraid", but here I'm a little bit ... confused. Magix, the guys with the products for kids and DJ Press-Play Are they gonna transform it in a product for making ringtones ? Or ''funny'' things for instater or twigram ? Will Stupid Guetta or Moron Aoki advertise for it ? ... oh man my heart's starting to hurt now Look, when you push that button, it farts ... and this app only costs 49,99 !!! ... look it burps too ... awesome right ? Forge your sound like Stupid Guetta with this awesome farting app, only by MagiX I checked, my SF11 installer is in a safe place ... I feel relieved !! PS : they said nothing about the collaboration with iZotope.
Magix developes samplitude, it's there baby because it's where the audio adventure started for this company (1988 birth of Samplitude, 1993 birth of Magix). I suspect they will integrate quite a few stuff from the audio softwares acid and sound forge and spectral layer in Sequoia and Samplitude in the future. We already had a wave and spectral editor included (it's probably something that is in every respectable non toy daw, spectral editing in the box right ?), they might up the game even more. And sony wasn't doing anything anymore for those products, it was clearly a field they didn't believe in, it might not be so bad.
i've said it before, i'll say it again. the only way is up for acid pro etc. after being getting well f**ked over and neglected by Sony. i can see how a weapon's grade audio editor could be included in samplitude future versions, like edison in FL Studio. sony let acid die at least 6 years ago so there can only be improvement at magix imo. i know people are complaining it's magix, but samplitude/sequoia are amazing DAWs. and let's be honest all this moaning about 'toy' versions etc. well most companies seem to offer cut down versions of their flagship software. it will be interesting to see if acid get's a fresh start with some purpose... it really cannot be any worse than it has been for a long time now...
Magix acquired Samplitude in 2000. Their first product - and thus baby, as you call it - is the ridiculously bad "Music Maker".
SoundForge = best wave editor on PC, imo. They fucked it up bad on Mac, unfortunately. We'll see what se germans will do with it. Probably lock it away to clean the market for more Sequoia, which is a very advanced DAW. You have a channelstrip per clip/region and FX and other stuff that actually would kick ProTools ass, if it was used more in the industry.
The gui is very easy on the eyes, I agree with you, but there are other lighter applications which do the same job in a lot less time.
