I guess I'm looking for a direction in which ones to look at using for my productions. I know there are quite a few out there with different pros and cons but what i'm really looking for are the best ones with low cpu usage.. And also single eq/compressor vst's with high quality and low computer usage.. I have been lately looking at the hornet plugin suite which is very affordable.. Thanks in advance

If you can find eventide ultra channel for cheap ( or even free - they have given it away before) then that would be perfect for you.
Metric halo channel strip is great too and often on sale.

DDMF's The Strip has an axcellent EQ but the Comp is not working for me, though.

As far as CPU Load is concerned, Waves Audio Track is a solid, straight forward Channelstrip. If JJP uses it, it can't be that bad, right?

Metric Halo has a channelstrip that I think has outstanding quality and very reasonable cpu / resource management. It's my goto strip and I get very good results with it.

Slate sounds great but its not zero latency.
Duende Native Channel is the best for sound and low CPU it is also zero latency

i put ableton effects on the tracks where i need them

most often autofilter, compressor, eq 8, resonator, delay verb

never noticed any cpu usage problems, even on an old machine

Since you deal with electronic music, I don't believe you need analogue emulations; They usually consume more CPU due to non-linearities and circuitry simulations.

Honestly, you should probably use whatever comes with your DAW. They're usually the lightest and work pretty well.

There's a lot of hype surrounding plugins. It's mostly nonsense. It's already been empirically proved, many times, that you can achieve outstanding mixes using whatever comes in your DAW, assuming that you own a good, feature rich DAW, of course.

And also assuming that you know what you are doing.

Agree, though its impossible to substitute something like Slate VCR with DAW tools.Nothing in my cubase arsenal of plugins can come close to his compressors and dont make me even start with Acustica.
Useful, yes, but not in the big league with some of the plugins out there.

Like everything It all depends on how much cash you are willing to spend.

    Most have been mentioned.

The Hornet channel strip is actually one of their better plugins and very affordable. The guy who makes them also a cool & helpfull guy. The DDMF a good low end option and you can get some great results.

I would suggest you demo as many as possible before making a decision and then also think about whether possibly a hardware option i.e zero cpu considering u are a DJ might serve u better in the long run.

However that is going to cost a hell of a lot more.

Just about all the decent ones have allready been mentioned but definitely give them all a try before rushing into a decision Best of Luck :)

Does it? Mine has no latency..

Edit: actually it has zero latency, and can work inside your asio buffer as short as 1.5 ms... which virtually nobody achieves.

I ve also found very little latency with slates VMR but i guess it depends on your buffer size cpu etc . If it internally processed it must possess SOME degree of latency all though it could be near almost zero surely?

I was a minute ahead of you :bleh:,
Yes that some degree of latency does not add up ontop of your asio latency but actually acts inside of that,
as long as it is above 1.5 ms, I can't get it below 4 ms and usually don't go lower then 6 ms except for recording drums:unsure:
