Well, the latest poll of UAD vs Slate and Waves definitely rocked the ship toward waves. Since you might not be inclined to the iLok 2 chain ball of Slate, if you want to impart that analog vibe without abusing saturation and tape sims, go for CLA 76 to tame harsh peaks, and CLA2A for the smooth touch of that compressor. Without a question the SSL E channel strip is a winner in all fronts, beautiful for drums, vocals and pretty much everything. Please, check out HorNet VU meter. It is pretty straight forward and will keep your gain in check even automatically. Besides, it's extremely light on the system. When you use emulations of analog gear, it is imperative that you keep your gain staging properly adjusted. The magic number is -18.

Ok, then, that sounds like a render farm, analogous to what I'm used to in CGI. So in a way, the "indie" producers are in the same spot as content providers for both visuals and sound. The regular joe is separated from the show by barriers of entry like any business. Raw power defines the boundaries of what you can do. Ty.

Installing into memory, will try later...

They're brand new VST4 plugins most DAWS can't use them yet. But if you rewire 3 or more DAWs together it'll unlock a special future plugin mode. Which will allow the use of VST4 and you can physically travel to any time period to capture the sounds of that era to use on your recordings.

Just be careful not to click on any hyperlinks in any of your 3 or more DAWs. They'll take you to one of the infamous Steven Slate videos from the future demonstrating a new plugin that will emulate the sound of today's super squashed and over compressed radio-friendly sounds.

I'd say as few VSTs as possible. Some of them introduce harmonic distortion or alter eq curve even when inactive.

Although that might be even what you're going after, sometimes. I mean, if it sounds good and somehow richer why not?
But I agree on using not too many plugins.

yep, it does add a tiny little something to the low end, even if you don't dial it in at all.
