    Forgot to mention some of the ones whom I respect the most are actual artists that produce their own material. Takes a lot of skill.

    Examples would be Steve Vai - Genius Guitarist, Great Producer, Vinnie Moore

    Frank Zappa How many Albums???? Also spent hours producing experimenting & pioneering new techniques - Just thought those type of guys deserve a mention also as of course one can drift into the other

    From a dedicated hip hop artist and fan, I can't think of anyone doing rap that makes music anywhere near the quality of those guys
    Edit: Now that I think about it, RJD2 does some pretty cool stuff but I don't really listen to him because most of his stuff is kind of soft, not my favorite style
