So i ended up using one of the Audix over head mics and backed way off on the 1176 and the 610 preamp. I was adding far to much color on an already very colorful instrument. I also played it way softer and that chilled out on the buzzing. Something about an open g chord was just brutal and then i realized the b string was buzzing and the intonation was off and then i looked at the strings and saw they were old. So it's a combo of everything making this sound bad but mostly me not stepping back and asking myself to really be present and look at every part of the audio chain. including my hands and body (also, the strap was rubbing and making noise.)

The part still doesn't sound great but it's usable for now as I write the song. I'm thinking a close miced unplugged guitar might get me close to what i am hearing in my head as a typed this.... of to experiment with that idea. isn't making music just the best?

and this forum, is the best. really. it's the great vibe of helpful people in here. i am so grateful i found it.
