Who still remembers those great Reason updates, where we, users, would gladly be asking ourselves :
'OK, what am I going to get, with the upcoming reason update? Another 2 fantastic synths? 3 crazy innovative effects ? 3 new tools ? 20 great new features? ', etc etc

Now, with these damn expensive rack extensions, propellerheads will be releasing version 8.3, 8.4, 8.5, 8.6 ... versions, until 2018, just to continue selling us plug-ins and synths, many costing 100 euros and more, when, normally, we should be getting them with the next .0 or .5 update, updates that would normally include some great new plug-ins and synths.

But instead of selling a reason 9 update for 50 or 100 euros, and include 4 or 5 new synths and effects/tools, they sell those 4 or 5 items under rack extensions, and make 10 times more money. Greedy fat bigs.

They have been sending me their newsletters and emails, several times a month, asking me to buy the update... but they can kiss my sweet and soft ass.

The worst, they sell reason for really really cheap, and once they have trapped an innocent buyer, they expect him to buy a 130 euros Parsec synth. ... 130 fking euros !

Also, with all the companies making rack extensions, it looks like there are a few things that 3rd party devs can't make: why, among several hundreds of rack extensions, and a ton of companies, why are there no Equalizers?

Too bad propellerheads aren't doing a proper job, properly.
All they care about, now, are those damn rack extensions. Just like game companies are making more money via micro transactions and by selling tons of items, online, versus physical sales, like steinberg will soon be making more money out of their cloud services scam than via regular product sales, all they want is thousands of people paying a fortune for those crazy expensive racks.

Where are the real updates? +10 years ago, reason effects were supposed to run on 1GHz computers, with 512mb of ram. The reason effects and synths quality was just average, with simplistic ugly interfaces and very little options. Almost 16 years later, we still have the same ugly modules, that never evolved or got updated.

I truly regret having given my money to propellerheads. And it really passes me, being forced to have another daw locked behind a fking dongle. I think it's time to go back to reason 5 cracked version. It worked nicely, no need of the new features on v8.X. just to slave it with Cubase, to quickly create some beats, etc, version 5 is enough. I'm sure 90% of the warez v5 version, never thought about getting the update.

    When will reason v9 come out ? 2019 ? 2021 ?

Yeah, I learned a lot from Reason 5. Especially with Thor and Malström. I left that camp years ago though when they said no to VST and started with the whole Rack Extension thing.

I do have the demo of the most current Reason (8.3.2d7 build 6,323) and I just use it as a modular synthesizer/drum machine Rewired into Live.
I bypassed the whole trial period because all it gives you is access to RE and the ability to re-open saved projects.

I do all my sequencing to control Reason with Live's MIDI tracks and EXT Instrument devices and the audio is routed from Reason into Live's Audio tracks so all project data is effectively contained within the Ableton Live set.

You can save and recall all Reason instrument and effect settings by placing the devices inside a Combinator. The Reason demo does NOT allow you to re-open saved projects. It DOES allow you to load custom instruments and this case custom Combinators.

The only drawback to doing this is Reason starts with a blank template so you have to label your Combinators to match Live's MIDI tracks and load them in Reason whenever you reopen a Live set. This is why I learned to use the External Instrument device in Live because it stores what Reason device it was attached to so all you have to do is load said Combinator and route MIDI/Audio accordingly.

It took me longer to explain the process than it will take to actually do it.

Side-note - using Voicemeeter Banana and Virtual MIDI ports you can do the same with Reason and Maschine for free.
    Or Rewire VST for €29.00
