Hi everybody,
So I finally updated the older K5.3.0 to K5.5.0. All older Libraries work after the update so didn't have any problem with those. I experienced trouble with some of the new ones that I tried to add.

For example: Best Service Emotional Cello: After getting "this patch is encrypted error" , I tried deleting all the registry entries as well as the XLM file. Then when I try to add the library again, I get the error "This library can not be added", " no library was found" messages. How is this XLM file created if you used a ninct file to add the library? Why is it when you try a second time, this XLM file is not generated again?

A second type of problem: The library is already added and shows up in the library tab. Example: Orchestral Tools Berlin Strings. When I try to load a patch, I get this error message: "The library needs to be added first" or something like that....

And the 3rd type of problem: Such as Chris Hein WoodWind Library. This is different. With this one I do NOT even get to add the library eventhough there is a ninct file in the folder. It just says "no library was found". If I try to add the instrument manually it says the library needs to be added first.

So I pulled up an older laptop pc also with Windows 8.1. Installed the same K5.5.0 and tried loading the same libraries that I'm havings problems with. To my surprise most of them worked!

When I look at the registries of both entires side by side, I see that they're different a bit. In some cases, there's more registry entries on the laptop side of things. Are these registries computer specific entries? Like if I try to duplicate them on my main computer, that would not make sense?

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated! Hope to hear from you guys...

Thank you very much. I'll definitely check into those locations you mentioned tomorrow. As a side note, if I uninstall Kontakt altogether, would that clear out the older registry entries? Is that what you meant by doing a fresh install?

I've been trying to avoid uninstalling the whole thing for obvious reasons. After looking at so many parameters, I was able to solve some issues ....at least for some of the libraries that I was having problems with.

Here I have some more questions for you.

What exactly is the relationship between the nicnt and the XML file when it comes to this line of code:

<SNPID>296</SNPID

Do both of these need to have the same SNPID number?
Are we allowed to change this number at all? If yes, then how does it work if you change the SNPID number for the ninct file? do you have to modify the XML file for that library manually to the same number as well?

Also had an unrelated question. Obviously it won't be possible to use a cracked library with a ligit kontakt , but what about the other way around?

 

If the library works without adding it to the library, do not add it !!!
You don't know if the NICNT (oir NKC & NKX ) came with the original libraries.
if they were customly created, then you will end up with this kind of problems.
Use Quick-Load instead. Always !! This will prevent a lot of problems.

 

Stay with the R2R releases.

ok so here was the fix to ALL the problems that I was having. All these different problems had something to do with "SNPID" as well as XML numbers. In my case, it didn't matter if I changed the SNPID number of the nicnt file, however it did matter if I messed with the SNPID number of the XML file. So I used a 2nd computer to figure out the SNPID that it was generating for the XML file of the libraries that I was having problems with and I simply used that number to edit the XML file in the main computer.

Also, I opened a word document and kind of wrote all the SNPID for all XML and nicnt files that I was using.

So now that I got past this....maybe you can help me with this other question:

Is it possible to use a LIGIT Kontakt library with a cracked Kontakt 5? There's some that I use on regular basis, so I was thinking to buy those ...

 

im having similar problems where the snpid number for heavyocity Vocalise is 691

that is also the same number for my 8dio EDM drumstep . So when i add one, the other disappears.

If i change the number to say 692 for vocalize..both appear, but the vocalise keeps asking me to add using the library tab because the patches are encrypted.

Anyone know how i can solve this?
