i just made it.

Mounted a OSX Volume in Windows.
It worked about a year. and now kaputt (broke) :D

I used HFS+ from Paragon.
I got a bluescreen. Restart: Doesn´t mount anymore.

in OSX it says: Cannot repair, safe your data. You can read, but you cannot write.
I mounted the HDD in my second Windows with Macdrive. The folders are there, but empty.
Especially the ableton Project folder. Empty.
With my first project, which was 90% ready.
Samples, Kontakt, .. Folders there, data empty

So what can i do?
I have OSX Yosemite and Windows

Any help would be very very good

Hi,
Ontrack Recovery Pro for Windows has been a good friend many many times for me and if there is not a mechanical failure on your hard disk you have a good chance to get back your data. Sometimes it can take up to a week or more to get the data back, relax ;)
Make a deep scan ... and when Ontrack have finished analyzing your disk, you should try to restore your most important files/folders first!

Sorry to hear that.

PhotoRec is free and is able to recover Ableton Live Sets.
Data Rescue is not free but highly recommended. There is a free version but it only allows 2 GB of data to be recovered.

Don't feel too bad brother, you're not the first, I doubt you'll be the last.

You suggested me Photorec (Testdisk?), Data Rescue and Ontrack.
Should i mount the disk in windows with macdrive or should i better try native tools in OSX?

I saw a tool called DiskWarrior. I think its the last thing i could do, because it will write on the disk ! ?

Someone knows if there is a chance to recover Kontakt Libraries & or (Apple Loops/Wav files)? if yes witch one you would recommend. I'm on Mac/Hackintosh!

you made me hope, so i tried it. i slept 2 hours, then i walked back to the PC, i slept 2 hours, and so on :D

DISK DRILL made it.
It found the folder and the real project names. The project loaded (Without samples)
But the app even found my lost kontakt stuff. Wav and Kontakt files.
I have to work now, so i cannot test to recover further files now.
But this app is great. lifesaver.

The worst is, i work in the IT. Everyday my job is to repair PCs, safe data, recover (Windows). But if i work with the stuff all day, i neglect security aspects at home.
Now it made boom. It was my own fault. (and paragons)

Today i get a second HDD and install a RAID1.
The SSD with OS is secured by Acronis. I think best SW for this (Win)

Thank you so much friends. It was my first project on ableton and i learned much from from it.
In the worst case, i would have to recreate it. But it never sounds the same.

Nice that Disk Drill worked for you, good to know that it is able to recover also Kontakt & Wav Files.
Did you use the Demo version? how many GB can we get back with the demo version?

Ahhh Ok i found out that the Demo version only lets you scan, afterwards we can recover the files after registration. Anyway looks like a real helper this "Disk Drill" utility.

So good that you managed to get back your files. I've been doing this for many years and I highly recommend Ontrack EasyRecovery. Even when it looks like the hardest mess ever I've managed to get back files ... although I sometimes have waited weeks for a few gb ... but if it is important files for me or my clients, it's worth the wait. A good rule when it comes to computers is to know that it is not a question of if the hard drive breaks, only of when! So be sure to back up your backup ;) Use the cloud with Google Drive, Drobox e t c for your dearest files. Create a routine that does it automatically when you shut down your computer.

Never ever use Paragon on Windows. Same ballpark with you some time ago. More stable Macdrive. I use Paragon NTFS on mac but not viceversa on windows.

 

No it's recovering file and a lot of file but in raw format so you have no extension and for audio and picture it's not bad but for project daw for example no chance to recover a working file....
