In contrast to Artic, I find "tinnitus" for me to often be a symptom of meditation, so it doesn't bother me. When I come out of deep meditation I usually hear a sound kind of like a steady stream of rain hitting the pavement. Sometimes it persists for 30 seconds, sometimes hours. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I associate it with calm and peace. It might be that it's always or almost always there, and I only notice it when I silence all the rest of the mental noise.

Who knows. Just like anything else, it's your reaction to it that makes it good bad or neutral

    Of course :)
The test is searching for elevated levels of histamina, caused by the intolerance to some food.
In my case : flour(gluten), milk(lactosa), eggs and pork. (the gluten is the biggest problem ...)
I don´t know exactly whats the name of the test, but I can give you the name of the clinical lab that made it, and maybe you could answer to them : I think they will gonna answer your questions properly.
They are located here in Sevilla (Spain) : http://www.labsur.es/
But there are another clinical labs that made the test.

Anyway, I believe that if you explain it to your clinical lab, they will know what analitics to do.

Exactly, the process is something like this : You have to start with a basic diet with a limited number of diferents foods.
Then you will reintroduce foods slowly in your diet again, and watch if the symtoms returns, but first you have to be cleaned for a month or two.

But you had to make the test first : any food can be the cause.

I mean four. In my case are : wheat flour(gluten), milk(lactosa), eggs and pork.
And gluten is the biggest problem ...

What I can say it´s that it´s incredible how I fell after stop eating gluten ...
    I´m a new person

    Best regards,
    ElecTrick.

Thanks ElekTrik, I'll dive into it. I'm a bit weary about all those hyped anti-gluten diets we see. Maybe because I'm a true glutoholic!
Musicologo: Jesus only heals niggas? That's lame.

In my case ,tinnitus is around 7k,since 2003,(thanks to our old drummer). In the beggining I tried 3 or 4 doctors who told me to live with it 'cause it's a trauma in the inner ear and there is no cure.So I accepted it and paying no attention to it,it was better for me.Then I realised that when I lay down to bed ,to my surprise , it slowly disappears but comes back in the morning.I also started taking medicine to reduce hypertension, and I got better.
A few months ago, thanks to our new drummer, tinnitus is getting worse.
1.The earplugs help me a little during live performance,
    2. Paying no attention to it helps also,
3.Gingo Biloba, which I took for 2 months, did'n help and raised my blood pressure,
4.I think relaxation and meditation helps so I recomend this :

I want to thank you all for your information, some of it is usefull to me.

 Yep, that holds for me too!
I have a light but constant Tinnitus since years now, ignoring it helps.
Surprisingly i didn't get it from any loud sounds nor music but from the ultrasound machine used
during a difficult dental surgery! I had noticed it when i tried to make some meditation.
It was very, very annoying in the beginning, now i have accepted it.

Indeed! It was a special machine for cleaning teeth using a high frequency ultrasound.
I precise that it was connected to other complicated dental surgeries.

Hi Friends, I love what s happening here, first: People taking theme seriously (with good wave), sharing their experiences and giving ideas about a problem for musicians. We need silence for quiet musical moments and when we can t find them, we must replace them with imagination, it s not the same , but patience helps.
Second when I read statistics in audio, z seems people near to meditation is a liiiiitle minority and here are a lot, me too, it makes me think electronic musicians practice meditation too, strange, but better !!! or only quiet music players hear tunnitus and we are here.

I ll told you, I m (62) quiet music from my (25). Apart from tinnitus, some years ago I began to have difficult to discern between two semitones from C3 to the low side of notes. So I compose in higher notes and then transpose them, "if you want you can", but doctors can t understand that, they find it a stupid detail without importance and see you as an alien, so we, in this forum are near to a group therapy :) and it s nice because we can help one to another. Have a good week !!! My language is spanish, so, forgive me if something sounds strange in my grammar.

Thanks ElecTrick, yes I know what wheat flour (gluten) can make to some of us, and when you have to make an abdominal ultrasound doctors ask you stop eating flours 48 hours before :) they know flour are a source of inflammation :) :guru:
Thank for your info, best for you, have a nice week !!!

    You´re welcome gentleman

Unfortunately, wheat flour is a venom for some of us.
But the good news are that you only have to stop eating it and you health will be better.
In my case ... a lot better.
I will not list all aspects of the improvement that I suffered, but I will cite the most striking:
Only one month after stop eating wheat, pulse of my heart fell from 75bpm to 65bpm :woot:... quite amazing.
So just that, made me realize how serious the problem was.
The disappearance of tinnitus is also amazing.

And as I said before, the good news is that all you have to do is stop eating wheat.

    Best regards,
    ElecTrick.:)

I agree with you.A few months ago I decided to visit an homeopathy doctor and follow his instructions to cure a longtime illness I've got,and he insists I stop eating wheat (which is bad for me) and replace it with zea bread or barley bread. It is difficult to make this change because wheat is in bread, cookies, croissants etc.(I stopped wheat about 30%).Now ,after what I read from you I 'll try harder, hope to cure the tinnitus.
P.S. I have downloaded ,(years ago),from a site or forum about helping people to overcome tinnitus, a sound sample which you listen to,3 -4 times a day for a minute.I always forget to do it every day,but when I do,I think it reduces the tinnitus for a while. Some doctors believe that if you listen to the frequency(ies) of your tinnitus, after a time ,it will disappear. The frequencies of the sound sample look like this :

Hi Karamuzas ! thanks for your comment.
It would be nice if you upload that sample to a server to be able to download it and experiment.
The ideal would be our ears acting as an operational amp with two inputs, one, internal tinnitus and the other the same sound with fase changed = eliminating tinnitus... :winker: but they are not like that... or we haven t find the way till now. Don t give up !
Well, thanks again, and in touch, have success in your experience. :like:

Well... In my "youth". The emphasis is on the word "youth". I used to turn up the volume. As a matter of fact, in my young head, the thunderous levels meant (at least for me) the louder the better. Who in the hell knew (at the time) that we, as a collective body of music makers and music consumers, would eventually be entering into the dark, aching caverns of 'old' (or at least 'advanced' age) not only [almost] bereft of our hearing, but incapable of tolerating LOUD decibel levels above or below Middle-C. I damn sure was not thinking about the future/present scenario where even the slightest alteration in loud noise levels would send me into paroxysms of head pain. The bottom line? Turn down the damn sound levels (live or in the studio). Huh. what in the hell did you say? <lol>

I stumbled on the following while researching something completely non-music related, and figured it could be of interest to some of you:

    Taurine Helps Reverse Tinnitus

Taurine plays a vital role in hearing. In fact, studies have found that in some cases, taurine can reverse the biochemical processes behind hearing loss.1,2 Other studies have demonstrated that taurine can almost completely eliminate the ringing in the ears associated with tinnitus.3

Much of the damage to hearing occurs not in the mechanical parts of the ear, but rather in the nerve cells that convert sound waves into the electrical energy that is perceived in our brains. Like other nerve cells, these so-called “hair cells” depend on the flow of calcium ions into and out of the cell. Taurine helps restore and control normal calcium ion flow in auditory cells.1,4

Taurine improves the hearing ability in animals exposed to drugs like the antibiotic gentamicin, which is notoriously toxic to hearing.2 And in a boon for the 17% of us troubled by chronic tinnitus (ringing in the ears), taurine may be helpful in quieting the noise.5 Animal studies using human equivalent doses of 700 mg to 3.2 grams per day of taurine over the course of several weeks demonstrate near-complete resolution of tinnitus with taurine supplementation (the animals had been trained in tasks that are sensitive to distraction by tinnitus).3 And a human pilot study has shown encouraging results, with 12% of people responding to taurine supplementation.6

    http://motherboard.vice.com/read/does-a-cure-for-tinnitus-already-exist

Also this.... is fucking Black Magic, i didn't believe it would do anything... but it did!

"Place the palms of your hands over your ears with fingers resting gently on the back of your head. Your middle fingers should point toward one another just above the base of your skull. Place your index fingers on top of you middle fingers and snap them (the index fingers) onto the skull making a loud, drumming noise. Repeat 40-50 times. Some people experience immediate relief with this method. Repeat several times a day for as long as necessary to reduce tinnitus.Dr. Jan Strydom, of A2Z of Health, Beauty and Fintess.org"
