Hey Guys!

I need your precious advice on how to get some great indie drum sounds.
In particular I'm looking for samples and/or instruments(vstis) which can give me a good blend of electro and acoustic, foremost for songwriting purposes. I don't want to spend a whole lot of time till I have some (half) decent sounds and my inspiration floated away.
Hope you have some secret libraries I dont know.

AD2 with addon kits?

 

Which addons would you suggest?

 

these are my kind of drums, Abbey Road 60 and modern would do this sound, right now im using Toontrack Rock Warehouse which is more realistic, im adding samples from Slate drums to get various sounds i need.

 

I love AD2, its so easy and such fun, but the problem it has is this, it sounds like addictive drums, no mater what kit you use, it got a sonic characteristic that that is easily identifiable, something in the room sound i think. I don't want people who make music to to go, "oh year he used Addictive drums on that track, i recognize it a mile off.."
Its kind of armature if its that easy to spot something.. I wound rather people say, "are those real drums? "

Why not turn off the room sound? All drums need some work to make them your own. The shittiest sounding are real drums just after they've been recorded. People spend days trying to get them to sound decent

 

I agree that the presets for AD2 have a very unique sonic characteristic, i would try implementing turning most of the effects settings off and use some custom form of impulse reverb instead of the one that comes with AD2 and using your own compression/distortion to make the drums your own.

there's some kontakt interesting libraries like soundiron's Grit or towel & circle drums by wavesfactory...
personally I'm using both ad2 and ez2 to add more corps, althought the midi map is a bit different, the kick, snares and other hi-hats have pretty much the same keys
