Sonarworks Plugin - You don't need it ?

    yeah, the guy is kinda ridiculous, he's OP and yet the only one rating "disagree" to all posts contradictory to his statements... honestly i dont know what he's trying to prove so relentlessly

    Let me throw in some interesting 'catchwords'....... what about:

    speaker wear?
    pressure on the head?
    production-line difference?
    dynamic frequency response?

    stuff that algo's cannot overcome if you ask me... these frequency plots can be handy to look at
    but have no use in the studio if you ask me. maybe in some pronsumer device

    *Real life test*

    listen to some music and push lightly on your cans, ...

    So what about people with big heads?

    I did mention already -

    I would never put an artificial curve on the master output -

    I'd rather just work with the headphones the way they are -

    Like you say: Listen to some reference material on your headphones during the writing and mixing process -
    Yeah your headphones may have an inaccurate response but that is a physical mechanical thing inherent in your headphones -
    Sticking an extreme EQ curve on the master output creates an artificially manipulated sound that tends to lead to ear fatigue -
    I'd more than likely test a mix down out with one of those curves -
    Just to have a listen to what it is suggesting to me -

    Am I reading that graph right? Are they really saying that headphone has an 18dB difference between 10kHz and 11kHz?

    I don't have ProQ2 presets, but I do have them for Waves Q-Clone as that's how I used them before using the Sonarworks plugin.

    I stand right with neo lover on this. The Headphone plugin is completely separate from the room correction plugin and has nothing more complex than an EQ correction curve to obtain a flatter response. You might get a slightly more accurate EQ correction if you send your headphones in but it will only be slight because the all the headphones of a particular model will only have a slight variance from each other.
    The Headphone plugin makes no claim at doing any thing other than getting you a flatter response. Take, for instance, the Sony MDR-7506 that somebody mentioned above. I have these and yes they do have a huge boost in the treble to make things sound brighter and you might fall into the trap of producing dull sounding mixes if you are hearing hyped highs thru the headphones.

    i used a correction eq i made myself for years. Before such plugins became common. Yes you can simply use an eq but its not as good as a plugin (phase - for example). I like toneboosters morphit more by the way. It is the same kind of plugin uses less resource and you get the same or even better (in my opinnion) results. There are even more headphones in morphit and its cheaper XD.

    An yes it works. I can morph my beyer dt 990 and my akg 812 flatter XD. Morphit + waves nx give me the confidence that i could make a whole mix with headphones. I was really really surprised as i tested this.

    sonarworks is a great tool i tested the demo.

    I don't have Q-Clone. I'd be thankful if you could re-make the ProQ2 presets.
    I specially need the ATH-m50x preset.

    Buy quality gear and stick with it, once you know your gear and you ears are trained you wont need any of these tools or analyzers at least not most of the tyme.
    You will be EQing and compressing like a champ.

    No offence, but that's a lot of work and something you could do yourself. You essentially get the EQ curves available for the Sonarworks and replicate them in your surgical EQ of choice (I believe dynamic EQs are more accurate). As I have the Q-Clone presets (and now just use Sonarworks anyway), I don't see myself making any Pro-Q2 presets any time soon, but there's obviously nothing stopping you from doing it yourself.

    Is that when trying to install the previous VR version or today's CORE version?

    If VR, there were some strict installation instructions and needing to install the trial first and so on. I think there is something in the files linking it to your machine, so sharing them didn't seem to work then. Not sure if it's the same with the CORE version as I haven't tried installing it?

    Vr have released version 4 if you have missed that but it is still the same you need to start trial first dl all calibration which of course doesnt happen if you are offline so go online when you install it wait so the app can dl all calibrations go offline and than apply the "medicin"

    What do you mean 'dynamic EQ'?? Headphones don't change their frequency response according to the input.

    If you use ProQ in Linear Phase mode, phase correction isn't needed.
