Adding harmonies to a melody...

    Hello,
    I was studying this melody,but i really don't understand how he added harmonies in that way,i mean he followed some theory o it's just by hearing ?

    Only the author of that piece could tell you what was going on his head. None of us here have telepathy, nor did we train with him or her, or know them personally. So how could anyone comment on someone else's knowledge base.

    That being said. If you can't follow what the melody is doing based on the chords behind it, then you need to learn theory better or use your ear.

    It's not. Was curious as I don't recollect having seen it before. I like the visible key embedded in the note.

    The second chord is Gmaj7sus4, Beethoven was a huge fan.

    I would dare to say that he composed this by ear. The reason being that some of the chords have incomplete voicings etc F#m9/G. There is Also the possibility that the voices he omitted are in a different layer altogether (which i doubt).
