Anyone know how to install the newly released XILS Lab Plugins by Team VR (recently on the Z) to custom Vst plugins installation folder instead of the default location? The installer language is in Russian and its an absolute mess. Any help appreciated.

 

Yeah, please.
V.R should do the same as R2R and add a READ ME with explanations in addition to the NFO.
Maybe they just don't want to but that would be greatly appreciated by people trying to manage their VST folders as clean as possible.
Thanks to them for making good releases anyway.

 

These are OK then? Noticed the Russian lingo and opted not to proceed. Maybe I'm being too paranoid!?

 

Even in russian you can't choose the install directory. Install all in the standard directory and move the vst files in the directory you would like to have them. There is no other choice.

 

If you're using 64 bits, they are all in "C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins\XILS-lab"
OR
"C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\XILS-lab"
Then, all you need to do, is "cut, pass" in the folder where you have your plugins.
It's really that hard???

It installs to C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\XILS-lab (for 64 bit).
You can either add this location to your host's list or move dll's to your preffered location manually.
First option is preferable.

P.S.: Language of installer is not Russian it's Ukrainian.

It is not Russian, it is Ukranian (if you see letter "i" among cyrillic, it is Ukranian)
There is no letter "i" in Russian, it is Ukranian letter, but in Russian there is letter "ы" that is not in Ukranian.

 

they make something like Read Me in them original archive when you open them archive you will find it from the right side

Oops my bad! Sorry for the cultural and linguistic oversight.

I chose the second option and finally got everything working. Thanks for the help people and also learnt a few new words as well :P

While i get your paranoid youve no need, although stix id avoid due to the crazy ass cpu load,apart from that it sounds quite good....The bigger deal here is the v2 of synthix, a big step up from the original and sounds killer

 

Anybody else having issues with these? In Ableton 64 bit the Vocoder5000 and V+ seem to crash it when I try and insert then. Stix and Syn2 both work fine.

 

The V.R installers check the registry for the relevant "paths" to the VST folders
If you have a 64-bit OS then you will find them here in your registry (use REGEDIT).

32-bit plug-ins
==============
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\VST]

64-bit plug-ins
===============
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VST]

If you want them in a different folder simply use regedit to insert the relevant paths in the registry and VR will install them there in future.

Instructions:

1. Install

2. Drag all the files out of the installation folder and put them in proper places in Program Files, like so. Search for newly created files and it'll show you everything just created. Install one plugin at a time.

Installation Folder: C:\Program Files\AudioTools\XILS-lab\XILS V+

Instrument Plugin Folder: C:\Program Files\AudioTools\Plugins\Instruments\XILS-lab\XILS V+

Effect Plugin Folder: C:\Program Files\AudioTools\Plugins\Effects\XILS-lab\XILS V+


3A. Rename "XILS V+.dll" to "XILS V+ FX.dll" - This is the FX version of the plugin, for processing your external stuff through the vocoder section. This goes to the "Effect Plugin Folder"

3B. Rename "XILS V+ Inst.dll" to "XILS V+.dll" - This is the synth itself. This goes to the "Instrument Plugin Folder"


4. Edit registry to point to the new place inside my plugins folder: C:\Program Files\AudioTools\Plugins\Instruments\XILS-lab\XILS V+

This points to my Instrument Plugin Folder. To make sure the FX version does not have problems with presets, copy the entire folder "XILS V+" to the abovementioned Effects Plugins Folder, and place the XILS V+ FX.dll inside it. This way, both your Instrument Plugin Folder and your Effect Plugin Folder have the presets alongside their dll file. Just in case.

(Alternatively you could forgo doubling of the XILS V+ folder, and have the synth and the FX version of the plugin in the same folder. However I personally prefer to separate things, to create more order in my folder organization.)

5. There was a double version of the FX plugin, one located inside the XILS V+ folder alongside the presets and another in the created XILS-lab folder in your main plugin folder. One of them you can delete.

6. Leave the two XilsFiles32.dll files in Windows and Windows/System, or wherever else they may be located on your system.

7. Rename the manual, without underscores. Move the uninstallation files into the Installation Folder alongside the manual.

8. Finally create Start Menu shortcuts to the manual and the uninstallation executable.

9. You're all done.

all these work fine on win7 32bit... in spite of the gibberish installer text..

 

EDIT: Problem solved. My sandbox wrote the virtualized reg entries directly in a txt ... so I could read them out.

Hi there,

I need some help. My sandbox do not virtualize and save any reg entries. So I have all files and I also know how to handle a manual installation and where to put the different files. But what are the proper registries paths? I'm working with Win 7 64 bit and created a reg entry like this "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\XILS-lab
But I still get a alert that the installation is not proper. Maybe someone is so kind to tell me the proper entries ... Thank you very much strange helper
