I already bought one product from him. Should I do it again? Is it true we can't reproduce the "Linn-Thing" with sampled libraries?

OK, found some reviews online.
Result:
While OB-Xtreme has some competitors, his drum machines VProm and VSDSX are unbeatable.
Forget about stock samples in this cases.
Personally reviewed, I sorted out all my Simmons samples, VSDSX is much more.

Not too convinced by this video.
Can't remember but I believe there are some worthy contenders in the OBX field...

 

SonicProjects OP-X PRO II - hands down the best OB-X virtual emulation ever! No samples, no heavy libs...


There is the "VS." video between this VSTi and the original hardware:

 

VProm (previously VLinn) is an absolute killer drum machine. By far the best LM-1 emulation available, mainly because all other sample based virtual drum machines are not able to simulate channels' full range pitch of the real deal, and VProm do it perfectly (read the manual to see how it works: http://www.alyjameslab.com/ajlab_pdf/VLINN_Linn_LM-1Drums_USER_MANUAL_V2.pdf).
Another killer feature is that you can load EPROM's images from other vintage drum machines (as Linndrum, DMX, DrumTraks etc.) AND your own samples so they will be decoded and treated by the perfectly emulated LM-1 circuitry and filter.

VSDSX is Simmons' equivalent of VProm: simply perfect.
OB-Xtreme as some competitors, that's right, but none sounds so analog to my (old) ears, even OP-X Pro II.

OP-X Pro II is still the king of analog emulation,though Aly˙s drum machines sound as good as it gets.

 

Aly J Labs make awesome products. I have Vlinn, SDSx, OBX and Elastic. All very cool stuff and at very nice prices too.
It seems the Vlinn has some feature that makes the Hihat less static. Is this correct?

And I have to say in my experience that Aly James is a very nice guy. Great service and very helpfull.

I've been tempted to purchase one or two of these myself. Being able to put ROMs into Linn is a nice touch.

 

And you not even need the hardware for this. There is a some stuff free available, ready to load. Converting waves into bin is also possible.
