and about companies stealing / borrowing/ whatever from other companies

acoustic instrument 1 in library 1 sounds exactly like Instrument 1 in Library 2? isn't there a chance that its just a hi quality sample of a acoustic instrument.

Kontakt is a format to play samples and packaged as such a lot of sample disk come in Contact format EWQL is one of them. they made a deal with NI and im sure in that deal was NI gained rights to use samples from EWQL libraries . Im sure NI had to pay to USE VSL stuff and had to put there name on it Hardly stealing

Out of respect for the dev, I didn't post this in the other thread. But here's some food for thought (I haven't even mentioned the loud noise problem that is inherent in Maizesoft plugins):

This site is filled with a bunch of haters and spiteful people. And people are liking and agreeing to that nonsense. Just goes to show you what kind of world we live in and the general character of humans. It's droll yet sick at the same time.

Just lurk and observe. I promise you when it comes to aversion towards a product, artist or genre of music in this forum. There's a sheep like quality to the mob rule folk slinging vitriol. It's crazy.

I think the real niche, and my personal problem (which seems to be shared by others) of StudioLinked is the copycat branding of the company and its products. "Sound just like Drake, Maybach Music, Chris Brown and more!" on it's R&B and Hip Hop products...on its Pop products, it REMAKES the song using its sounds.

Now if you have a client that specifically wants THESE EXACT sounds, then these products are still cheap imitations of these sound, but close enough that some clever processing could make it passable. Not only that, but the sounds laid out in a presumably easy to access manner.

The problem I have is whole aspect AND legality of the copycat-ness of the sounds and presentation. I've never heard any original material that wasn't in direct reference to something else (A remake, or a "Type Beat" are the only examples I've heard from them in their demos). These sounds, for me personally, are all but usable. The brass on a few them are ok, but honestly they sounds become trite THE MOMENT they are on 2 or more records. The entire presentation of the products feels overly forced for the theme, and in my opinion lacks creativity and long term usability.

With that being said...these products ARE NOT intended for a person like me. This guy found a specific type of clientele, and is sticking to it. I don't want to hear about whoever famous "demoed" the patches because those kind of stunts are easy to pull off with the right connections and money. Hell, even without those, maybe these people DID like it...that doesn't change the fact that these products are not meant for people who want a unique and personal approach to music production.

This is all my opinion, because you could say that the people who enjoy gimmicky products like these feel as though they are "unique" to them, and it's their music so thus its personal...as long as the end result is dope, or keeps them selling production (or more vst's, in S.L.'s perspective) I can respect it for the fact that it keeps a roof over someones head.

Thanks Iswingood for pointing that out and taking effort to make a video. IMO any musician's pair of ears shall suffice in this case.
I'm not surprised, never used any of StudioLinkedVST stuff as their products, product names and marketing strategies strike me as a scam more often than not. My impression will not make them scammers but such ripoffs are.

Those who care about the tools and instruments that they use will often appreciate a bit of background info, good or bad. We as a community would find a better purpose in joint effort to uncover such interesting stories than in confronting one another when somebody points his finding here.
I'm sure such findings will also eventually influence where we put our money and this is a big deal and it is as relevant here as is discussion about making music.

Sampling hardware is in no way reciprocal to stealing from other software instruments especially to re-sampling already sampled instruments.
Humans aren't designed to process purely original experiences well, if a good dose of familiar that is; unoriginal is present, original feels more acceptable, otherwise it may be incomprehensible and often irrelevant. But that doesn't mean that everybody is ripping off everybody.

When somebody builds upon original work of others if he adds a value on top of the original and credits original as well as collaborators it becomes a new original worthy of respect. Let's call it "original enough" for all practical purposes.
Eric Persing's work is a great example.

If there are other specific findings of industry theft I'd rather have them nicely presented here in this forum as in this one example as opposed to generalizations such as "I heard company x or everybody steals" etc.

Why is it when you call somebody out on their bullshit that you're always automatically classified as a hater.
Hating on someone would be being jealous of them because they are better than you, I don't think that term is meant to include the stealing of ones property or work. IJS.

    This one is easy.
Normal discussion needs no insults. When a post contains a lot of insults or just consists of insults, thats hate.
I don't know what happened, but in the last years it's the absolute exception to have a discussion without one or more people begin to use insults. For me those people are not worth to discuss with.

waw ! you got strong arguments there !
any comments about the video you asked for ?

what more did your friend/boss told you to say over here ?

the trick they pulled out few days ago was ridiculous
that's why this thread was created I guess
they can send/create every profile they want, now they are just .... "clowns" ..... "cloning clowns" ?

stay busy with your windowblinds projects, and let the guys with ears talk and inform
you do understand that the fact they are your boss totally discredit your sayings on the subject, right ?

Yes, One Reason admitted that he has done a (little GUI) job for SLVST. That does not say, they are his bosses. And that does not mean he has'nt got an own opinion about SLVST's stuff tht's at least as good as yours. Because of his insight, he probably knows more about the matter than we do.
I think it would be interesting to learn from his inside view, how SLVST aquires soundsets. e.g. do they really just copy them. Or is there an agreement between them an the companies you suspect they copy from without permission.

I really was astonished the way people here react when there is a thread about SLVST. Did I miss something? Were they sentenced for copyright infringement? Were the even sued?
I personally don't think it is unlawful to produce e.g. a Kontakt Lib from the sound of an instrument unless it is not just copied. At least where I live. If the sound is poor I'd suggest not to buy it.

Ok, I admit the thread about giving us 30% rebate wouldn't be my style as well. A bit smarmy. But are they really the proverbial evil?

@twoheart people tend to react this way to barefaced hypocrisy

we all have been guilty of it, but it's particularly revolting to see a shameless display of it...

Oh the haters and trolls on this forum, you make me chuckle with your 'brilliant insight' into the work of others as if you have a clue....:rofl:

Get a life  ... I don't have any BOSSES...i own my own design company. I work for over a dozen audio and GFX companies and over 40 in the last 10 years.. and likely you are using at least one, if not several of my UI's.

You have no idea about me, what I do or who I know.

Enjoy ur trolling and masquerading Mr. 20 post.

Get banned and came back did we? Haha.. and u talk about profiles, don't be a hypocrite mate.

and this thread.. you dimwit.. was created.. in early 2013... U know, back when you were in middle school.

lets see some of your creative genius.. or do u know nothing more than to piss urself in public forums after coming home from ur Macdonalds shift?

    I'm lovin' it

    Ignored ..

StudioLinkedVST is member of this forum ... don't know if he'll join in to discuss this ? ...
Problem i have with their stuff, some frequencies are cutoff, i mean like a bad EQ, or bad studio monitors or even bad hear, i don't know.
They sound good at first, until you compare to anything else you have on your computer.
    It's just MY opinion.
See Steve Wonder play their stuff, not an enjoyable moment, he's playing sounds, but not playing at all ...

Are you trying to say that what I said is not relevant because I only got 20 posts here ?
seriously ? man you are full of very good arguments

    No idea about you ?
well I know that your design company is more or less a profile @deviantart with poorly shaped skins
the link for your website is dead ..... you don't know how to handle a Tele (but hey, it was good on photo right ?)
according to your face on every picture you proudly put on the web (mark of intelligence)
    looks like your medicated, sedated.
Your work seems to be mostly ripped off from some other profiles @deviantart (gotta love those windowblinds skins .... superior work kiddo)

So the thread is from 2013 ... whatever, it was brought back for a reason.
btw, this is not trolling, this is arguing. Arguing with some disguised troll who didn't manage to get his 15% on every sale

woops ! its time for your xanax .... nighty night

That's the thing, I wasn't responding to the person who made the claim that they allegedly use other companies sounds. An allegation can make for healthy debate. I was responding to the blatant disrespectful and vitriolic comments. You either have to be blind or willfully ignorant to not see the hate that has ensued in this thread. And what's sad is the mob like mentality associated with that, based off of an accusation. I notice that a lot in this forum. Also hating on someone doesn't have to mean that you're jealous, it could also mean disrespectful and offensive rhetoric aimed at others which is exactly what happened here.
