i just ran across Tom Cosm's work for the first time. great man. and there have been a handful of times that someones work has stood out from the rest. who are your favorite people, and why?

we can open it up to any area of work in the industry if you like

besides my parents who both where performing music for many years and heavly influenced my upbringing I would say - thinking back and remembred what producers really made me jump on the musictrain it was Quincy Jones and Teddy Riley no doubt. Old heroes :)

I think my favorite producer, if i have to pick just one, must be Adrian Sherwood. His work is so great wether he works on dub, punk, reggae or any other genre. He got a pretty distinct sound i would say.

Not just because of the Bowie stuff, but for also for some of his other impressive productions, his consummate musicality, and his being from Brooklyn – Tony Visconti:

George Martin, Brian Eno, Steve Lillywhite, Tim Palmer, Flood, Alan Moulder,Dave Garcia, Monti. the last 2 I've built studio computers for. Monti along with Rob Holliday are pretty much responsible for resurrecting Gary Numan's Carrier.

I don't really have one, though I do like Steve Albini's work and attitude towards the music industry.

Max Martin, anyone? And maybe his little henshmen: Shellback, dr Luke, Kotecha, Rami Yacoub....

OK George Martin and Phil Spectre ruled the 60s, people like Eno and Quincy Jones ruled the years after, but since the late 90s it's been Max Martin without fail. Whereas Timbaland, Babyface and the Neptunes are not even relevant anymore after a few years at the top, Max is still making numbers ones every single year.

BTW: This was my first post on this forum, thanx for having me ;-)
