?

For which good synth would you like to see more presets made by skillful programmers?

actually, i just cherry pick what i like out of each bank - especially if its playable - then save them to make one bank. I agree with everyone, be nice to learn how to efficiently program on different synths - im not good with patching. (i learned on a korg m1, moog rogue), i also do the same with reverse engineering and tweek what they made - very good template to base off of. And its just so dang time consuming - thats why the synth with the best patches and librarys (that are conducive to my genre -ie. - R&B/POP- not dance, trance, acid, slap, poke, krunk, dunk, weeball, tallywacker thump or anything else...just some good old synths and pads and stabs - playable stuff)

Thanks for the insight. Always helpful. But still. When there are this many sylenth1 and Massive banks out there, what can be the extra something that makes the difference to sell more. I still don't get it. Good mp3 demos perhaps... :dunno:

It's true only if you have enough time ahead of you. I work in video so when i get home i have no time left to program presets like i used to with my jupiter 8.

Now i prefer to take all the time left i have to actually make music.

But nonetheless, i don't mind tweaking a sound i already like and collect different presets from different banks to make a "set" totally usable to my music.

I did exactly the same with Gfx. I have a "set" for each type of mood with everything related to it. Medieval for instance, fonts, textures, sfx, music, etc... You see the deal.

When i have the time, i see what the hype is all about and i create new sets...

It's super efficient instead of browsing per hours... when suddenly everything you need seems gone... :guru:

Yes this is the dilemma. Strangely, I can offer anecdotal evidence that is contrary to what many would think. The soundbanks that sold the best happened to be the ones that became available on the sister site. My presumption is that people were able to try out the sounds, and based on that, went on to purchase them (or at least a portion did). So I guess the key is to get it in front of a lot of ears/eyes. Actually accomplishing this is more difficult. Again, this is just my experience with it.

I genuinely dont believe that there is a combination of the parameters (Sylenth1) that is not made on a preset yet in one pack or another...

Presets are excellent to see another perspective on sound design and hearing what a vst is capable of. But we have enough of those. I would rather see more sound designers in the producer community rather than preset users IMHO.

You underestimate the amount of sounds that can be produced with a synth.

Now, actually making that many banks useful is another story. Takes a long time to find what you're looking for. I generally just make presets myself. That's why I do things like release community soundbanks. I always end up with about 10 extras for every 1 I use in productions. And it's STILL faster than searching for presets.

But when I feel uninspired, presets can help give ideas, etc. :)
