As i explained before: they put *blacklists* in the code.
There's no totality...even in the software world! Look @ LOOMER software as example:
the previous Keygens generated valid codes also for newer versions, but then opening
the Plug-Ins again they remained unauthorized/deactived.

I'm aware of blacklisting. For that to work, the developer has to know the key he wants to blacklist. That's impossible with generated keys, at least on offline machines. Blacklisting to my knowledge is used primarily to revoke legit keys that got published.

Anyway. I was considering buying a license of Serum. Steve Duda is a nice guy for sure. But I don't really have much use for Serum, aside from some wobbely dubsteppy sounds it is famous for. Maybe next Christmas sale, as USD 189,00 is not exactly cheap. And it is hitting my CPU considerably.

It is possible to blacklist keys, even for generated keys, e.g. this way:
Let's say the programmer defines an algorithm by that the keys are generated. And another (or within the first) wich sorts out random keys the programmer blacklists within the code.
If the keygenner cracked the generation algorithm, valid keys are generated. But with every new version the plugin programmer adds blacklisted keys to the code, he knows were never issued for legit copies (but it would be easier to sort them out programatically)
There may be billions of keys, but in these billion only say 10.000 legit keys. 99,9% of the keys are invalid by blacklisting (although correctly keygened), so that the probability of a valid key by the keygen is not very high.
No need for an online connection this way.

    Just one idea.
