Ok, so I was recently introduced to sonarworks reference tools and wow, looks amazing, but I'm on a PC and I can't seem to find a version for that, so on to the next one. Does anyone know of something that would work with headphones? I really need something like this, since I do pretty much all my mastering with the headphones.

I'm with you. Sonarworks looks super cool. But I'm a pc guy. ARC System 2 is close. But not for cans. :(

About time the put up the win version. They talked about it on the site, but it wasn't available for purchase as recently as about a month ago (when last I checked). Might have to start saving my pennies.

Yeah. I just got some new monitor speakers (8" Mackie's). So new cans will have to wait a bit. Gonna get a newer pc or a synth first. I have a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's that I like a lot in the meantime. :)

I have them too  The Sonarworks profile is for the M50x. Their website says customers should contact them to request what headphones they should profile.

Looks like they started with the popular ones. Send them a mail and request your model

Well, you could find a "portable version" of your daw of choice, get the trial, try the ole "RunAsDate" trick and set to the 29th day of the trial and only using once at that point. But hey, who knows if that still works :P

Everybody praises the 650s. Why!!??? The 600s have been around much longer, are half the price and most importantly have a FLATTER natural frequency response.

    @Enoch007
Where I live the HD600 is more expensive! From what I have read the HD650 seems better suited for listening to recorded music, which I do a lot, and surely this Sonarworks software makes the flatter frequency response a moot point, since both headphones are improved for mixing? Am I on the right track with my 'best of both worlds' thinking and does (HD600+Sonarworks) = (HD650+Sonarworks)?

Offtopic, just friendly advice i would say to for getting a synth and not a pc. i've had some fun with some of your synthpresets youve shared on this forum and i recon you would have lots of fun getting yourhands on them knobs on a real synth :D

I'm actually leaning towards a new pc. My current one isn't bad (overclocked 3.5ghz quad core with 16gb ram). But some of these new cpu's are looking pretty sweet.

I actually already have an Access Virus C. And I've had a couple of other goofy little synths in the past (Roland SH-32, etc). But I'm thinking of a replacing the C with a Snow or possibpy just adding in a Nord module. Maybe a Blofeld...

And as far as soft synths go, I generally create mappings for my midi controllers for the synths I'm working with. For stuff like filtering, knobs help find the sweet spot IMO.

As you may or may not know, there's a community soundbank for Spire in the works (today is actually the deadline for submissions). I hope you'll check it out! My own part consists of some very cool, unique patches. :)

    Damn, thats nice! I whish i had a virus C :)
But its good to hear you are a "knobguy" too. Nothing beats getting your hands dirty touching :woot:

Back in the day i've owned different synths, back when i was a total noob and didnt understand anything!. I remember casio, Sh-101, jp8000 and a few more. i used them for everything!

i remember on time when my dad had bought himself the first akai sampler in rackformat for his homestudio. you could sample stuff! i was blown away to put it midly!

Oh, i better go check out that spire project! i love to play with new sounds!

What DAW do you work in? im thinking how you go about mapping your synth up especially.
I really want to get my hands on some cheap midi controller since i cant afford a synth :snuffy:
