    Well hello AUDIO-zens....
    So to start with....
i am using a DELL STUDIO 1537 (yeah i knw that's WAY OUTDATED..!!)
and when i got it, it was running Windows 8 (64-bit) at that time...
so i installed CUBASE 5 on it and it was running fine without any errors.... but after running it for around 2 years, i recently updated to Windows 10 Pro when Microsoft was giving away free upgrades....
so just recently before starting a new project i decided to clean up my whole system as itunes & other were clogging my CPU and uninstalling would still have left bits-n-pieces here and there..... so i FORMATTED MY WHOLE SYSTEM (not just C:/) and now i installed Cubase 5 on it and now when i start it, it shows an error box "Cubase5.exe - No Disk: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive G:" and below it CANCEL, TRY AGAIN and CONTINUE.... though clicking on CONTINUE opens CUBASE 5.... why is it showing this pop-up.?? and also the HalionOne by AiR is not installed. when i select it from Instruments drop-down list it shows error about syncacc.dll not having an expected interface....!!!
and recently i started i downloaded the setup for HaLion One from steinberg's site and installed it...
but this time it shows the same error and then it just freezes and when i close cubase through task manager it shuts down my entire system.....
    Did i do something wrong.?
and yes, one more problem i noticed after this FORMAT is that my WiFi adpater seems to be connecting to my Home WiFi in its own time and after some time automatically disconnects (though it shows conneected but NO INTERNET ACCESS) while my phone seems to be working fine on this same WiFi....

    PLEASE HELP.....
any suggestions and tips will be highly appreciated as i am in the middle of this project and it is highly frustrating to have such a bug to deal with..!!!

It's not compatible. Even cubase 8 faced in the begining big problems with win10. I don't think that air will check to solve this incompatibility issue. So why not go back to win 8. What is the advanced for music to have win 10?

actually i was thinking of downgrading back to Windows 7, since the Driver disk that came with it also supports Windows 7. But i kind of looked around at various posts about downgrading back to W7 because i had a genuine copy of Windows 8 and now its 10.....

Perhaps you've installed other products with the syncrosoft protection? In any case delete the SYNSOACC.dll files in your System32 and SysWOW64 directories and try installing again. That's why I used the PORTABLE version of Cubase 5 on my Win10 OS. No more hassle. You may consider to install Cubase Elements 8 trial with the "old" time hack though, just as i did. It works very good on a Win10 OS and you can open all of your .cpr files. No troubles at all. The only issue I have is that Elements 8 will not proper close at times but this is a known error on WIN8/Win10 OS. Cheers!

AFAiK "no disk error" is a common issue with all windows versions and it's related to registry, but I don't know why is happening.

Obviously you've never used AiR's Cubase 5 before; it happens always after you've had a dvd inside your dvd drive and removed it; it shows that message every time you start Cubase after the dvd had been removed for about two hours - then it stops, that is until you insert and remove another dvd...

I finally seem to have sort it out....
What i did was, i went to This PC and there i noticed that i had two hidden drives. As soon as i REJECT-ed both of them and then started C5 it started without any POP-UPS......
So now what's irritating is that everytime i re-boot (which is quite natural), i'll have to manually reject it so that it doesn't "pop-up" back again.....:suicide:
anyways thank you guys for your suggestions.:shalom::thanks:

You probably have some virtual drive program installed then? Try setting it up so that it doesn't make the virtual drives until you need them.

WinCDemu http://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/ I use mounts them only when needed. You probably use Daemon Tools.

When you search for a program to use, it is best to install it in a VirtualBox OS to see how it works. Investigate stuff on your own, don't let the Internet tell you what to use. :winker:

Problem is that if you uppgrade from a working win version it could work but not for all.. but if you do a clean install of windows 10 then it will not work for 95% of the cases.. it all depends a little on what kind of machine you running..

And as some stated.. even later Cubase versions didnt like win1 0.. i dont either so if you can just go back to 7 or something that works stable with your cubase version.. Running 8.5 on 7 and see no reason what so ever to jump on the win10..

Hope you get it up and running again..

    Love each other guys

Yep,8.5 pro running smooth and stable on 7 as well, its the most stable OS for music production anyway.

if i rember right there was a addon soundpack for HalionOne that you should not install
it's in the info, the halion you install from steinberg's site will not work cause its not cr@cked,
uninstall all halion stuff and the addons and try again.also install the cubase patch update again
you can find it on other side if you dont have the update,
