Im curious what others think of these 3 Drum Vsti , what do you like? what you don't like? and why. Personally id rather have real live drumming on track but at the moment thats not possible , Currently im using a combination of Ez Drummer 2 ( for writing drum track completely ) and then using SD 2 for actually drum sounds ( mainly for better bleed control between mics) but still curious what everyone else is using 3..2..1..go
It may be me not using it well, but when I tested EZD, it found kind of sterile sounding. AD is beefier. Anyway, sounds never get used off the box. They always need some processing to fit the song, but I've always been satisfied by AD. I find the amount of control it gives right. The other virtual drummer I go to is SSD4.
Out of the box it would be addictive drummer as the presets are quite tailored for generic genres. If you really wanna engineer the drums you can go a lot further with Superior Drummer due to the ability to change mic bleed for for more singular segments of drums.
All the way BFD2 or BFD3. BFD3 has slightly higher impact on CPU in than the BFD2. BFD2 still rules. I have both installed and mostly all expansions for BFD2, because BFD3 can read BFD2 as well. In BFD3 preferences just click on Streming engine / force to 16bit if you have slower system.
I tried EZD2 and found it nice and maybe easier to use than SD2 but in the end of the day I prefer this latest. I also tried BFD3 which was completely non intuitive to me (compared to SD2). Finally I tried AD2 and found it ok but ultimately, SD2 is my main choice. Also sometimes using it with Stylus RMX, depending what I"m trying to achieve.
BFD3 has come to a level of reality that SD2 can just dream of. It is just like SD2 : BFD3 = tricycle : helicopter.
yes but flying a helicopter is much more difficult then riding a tricycle , im NOT a drummer why i like SD 2 , it has the possibility for a massive midi library which is good for ideas and then i just mod the piano roll to taste. what i never really liked about BFD great sounds but no player. or does BFD 3 have one now?
EZ Drummer 2 mostly, I like to keep it fairly simple. Sometimes a bit of Superior Drummer 2. Would really like to see a Superior Drummer 3 combining the ease of use of EZD2 and the control of SD2. Dreams.
The only ones I have installed are AD 1.57, AD2 and BFD3. The two versions of AD are different sonically even when using the same kit presets. BFD3 offers more flexibilty over SD and AD with a totally different sonic pallate. Last edited: Mar 1, 2016
BFD 3 HANDS DOWN.Used all of them and when I hear my tracks on a big system at live events the tracks I used BFD on always sound more in your face and realistic to me. Truly this is subjective. Use whatever works for you!
BFD sounds more natural than other competitors, but everything is sort of personal choice indeed. As I say, i have both BFD2 and BFD3 BFD2 consumes much less CPU power than BFD3, but BFD3 has some great improvements... Also I'm not a drummer but in very short time I can program great grooves. I made this video earlier (mixing acoustic with electronic drums in EDM set)
Superior and BFD have gigantic libraries, and both are supposedly unprocessed; Both are 24-bit, I believe. Between the two, I like BFD more; It gives you more possibilities. EzDrummer and AddictiveDrums have smaller libraries, both pre-processed; Both 16-bit. Between the two, I like AD more; It's got a really extensive library with a very small size. Most of its kits sound incredibly good, specially considering their size.
