I think everybody should try to provide good information, since lots of people read these threats. I often discover interesting things in replies to other peoples questions

However, I agree with you that Steve Faoki is a unique poster :)

Yep... i agree... my advice is to take a number... and be prepared to work very hard for a long time, wish for some luck, and MAYBE MAYBE u might get a SNIFF at getting your music in front of someone who 'has some pull'

Im sorry but, the initial post smacked of today's obnoxious attitude of complete entitlement, laziness, cutting corners, looking for the easy way etc..

    God help us.

the problem with youtube is over saturation of pure crap, it becomes like trying to find a needle in a haystack. but there are bit and bobs out there that are easily nicked and used and the creator gets nothing due to ignorance. the only stuff ill post on soundcloud are complete works where I have composed everything and never in a mastered form. even at that I've gotten offers for tours or to use my work in video games of another "artist" to sing. but alas all the offers have been outright control over my music or 360 deals. Im not about to let GEMA pay someone else for me playing my own songs live.

yea gone are the days of some fat dude with a cigar meeting you after a gigs waving a contract a sack of cash telling you "im gonna make you a star" now we have "artist" and American x factor voices singing other peoples songs in hopes of "winning" what im not sure as 95% of them are forgotten after about a couple weeks of shows end.

get some friends, start a band. buy a junky van and hit the road and hope you make enough for gas money to get you to the next gig, build your fan base sell some t shirts and then ask your fans to crowd fund the next record & tour. and do it again in slightly bigger venues with a few more people.its a dying art i know but once in a while a band breaks through.

I think as a general rule, disregarding the luck-factor - If your stuff is any good, people will start contacting you after a while. In the meantime, try to get your stuff out to as many people as possible. Don't wait for some major label to discover you over some private soundcloud link. Won't happen... Work hard on your tracks instead, and don't expect anything to just happen.
I would guess that labels look for what is gaining popularity at the moment. There are tons of artists/producers who are in the stage of gaining popularity, so no label is going to put their money on some wild card random producer without any fans. Especially majors...
    Just my 2c.

If you think it's good enough... create an account here:
    http://www.musicdealers.com

These people are the advertisement music department for the single largest product in the world... Coca Cola. They also license music for everything else under the sun...

Oh... and I forgot to mention to you... good luck there are 50 million people in line ahead of you, of which 2 million are more talented than you... (according to statistics)!!

Exactly, everyone and their mother "has a track", it's not like it's a hot commodity. I doubt even the janitor at a major record label would care if an unknown amateur producer had a track.

He doesn't want to know what he would have to "pull" to get into the bowels of the music industry like this. With such little effort as posting a random thread on a random forum. I mean at least if you had like a youtube, or instagram, or any social media with like 10,000 followers then maybe... But even then if you wanna be the next big thing, you still wind up back at the aforementioned dick sucking. And that isn't even the most heinous of their rituals. So in this case your music is just like a hand job to them, you better off learning to DIY.

Mr. Soundcloud & Mrs. Youtube have the most connections to the "MUSIC" industry. Their friend APM Music has even more connections because he knows "HOLLYWOOD", but sending your stuff into APM wont get you anywhere. You have to submit your music to the libraries offered on APM directly.

    Here... Listen.

PS/ Joel Zimmerman aka Deadmau5 started out this way. A lot of electronic producers get their start in commercial library music. Just sayin'. Because you sound don't sound like a classic rock band.

Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with your music from what little I've heard, but it's the same as 99.9 percent of EDM out there already.
Like the others are saying you'll have to get to the back of the queue. Now, while you're waiting, think about getting you're music out there where people can hear it! You say you're good at remixes, so while your waiting check out this site: http://remixcomps.com/ find something that you like the sound of and give it a go. Unfortunately most of the tracks you will have to sign your rights away on, but with most you still end up with a track that you can put up on soundcloud or wherever and you never know you might win one. You get to play with a bunch of stems for free, try out different genres, and practice your skills. Have some fun with it and don't take it too seriously. Experiment!

Steve, I'm not sure if that's your real name, but if it is I'd recommend a pseudonym, as it sounds like you're trying to rip off a famous dude.

P.S: None of this is written to belittle you in any way. I'm just giving you some advice, so don't crack the shits, cos I don't do produce-downs.
