I have a track I want to show someone but not a time waster. 99.9% of people in this crappy thing that's called the music industry just blow smoke up peoples ass's. I want to talk to someone who actually runs events or big venues/music events. Or a reputable Record Label with connections.

    Hi Steve
You will not meet anyone in the music industry just like that but the following reputable sites are direct contacts with them but you have write and submit music that they are asking for and unfortunately there is a charge but I have had work from both of these sites:

    https://www.musicxray.com
    https://www.musicgateway.net/

    Good luck!

anyone who is anyone in the music business will tell you that they do not accept any unsolicited demo tracks. too many possibilities for being sued later.

Not directed towards you in anyway Steve, but even if people have these contacts I don't think they would hit them up for random requests. I mean I know guys hooked up with Universal who hangout with Coldplay, Lorde and Run the Jewells, etc., but I wouldn't bother them with this stuff as they are family friends. I also know a Grammy Award winning songwriter, and ditto I just keep things on a pleasant level. It would have to be a very good reason before I considered pestering somebody (I didn't even do it for myself). Going out to LA to hang out and party is another story though, although so far I haven't accepted any invitations :winker:

In my experience, it is who you know and where you are and, what you are doing at the time.
50/50 chance of going either way for you. The rest is just the right promotion for what you want to
accomplish. You'd be surprised how many songs/compositions are grabbed from media sources
by " 99.9% of people in this crappy thing that's called the music industry".

    Humility goes a long way...

The guy keeps treating everyone here as "peasants" and for some reason people went from joking about the stuff he says to downright licking his butt.

All hail the mighty king Faoki and his amazing divine over the top original music.

(Future complaints about delusional teenagers are not accepted)

Steve .. Steve... 'Who around here actually...?' Sounds bloody rude to my ears mate. Actually as in really? You might be surprised at what help you can get if you sharpen up your manners, grow some professionalism and start by saying what you've done in this industry, what you've tried already. Your question is all mixed up isn't it? You want to 'show' a track. And then you go on about live events. How could you possibly get a big live gig if no one knows you. If you really want to meet label a&r people your heart will guide you and you will put yourself in their faces, it all depends on how much you 'want it'. So what's going to guide you, misplaced cheekiness or your heart?

Even worse is the assumption that the other person would be the time waster.

Yeah, Faoki's stuff is that good and should go straight to the man on top. I bet guys in the industry never had anyone saying "You should really check out my stuff. It's your loss if you don't. This is your chance before I take it to someonelse."

It seems you all have forgotten, the days of sending a demo in to a major label are well over , They have loads of people who's job it isi to follow soundcloud and other similar sites looking for people to use. The music industry is rapidly becoming DIY. the best your gonna get is a distribution deal. if you just want to sell the song for another artist to claim as there own you need to be in Ascap lots of connections there. a friend of mine last year was nominated for a grammy this year she's got a song in the eurovision song contest. she got a nice body of work already before this writing commercial jingles and songs for tv and movies etc. these are the angles you need to be pursuing as well if you want your stuff heard. or someone heres it and likes it enough to walk it in to someone that can actually do something with it. but all that touch it will get a piece of the reward if it pays off , nothing is free

Without going into detail it's not him :) They are still fairly new in town, but once you are under proper management you start meeting people both professionally and socially, and things start to happen, for example they just got offered a gig at BottleRock. So I would say the hardest thing is getting your foot through the door in the first place. It's not all glamour though, some people will have the shirt off your back, and label execs can be pretty scummy! However the artists are pretty tight with each other and like to hang out, and also seem the most helpful towards fellow musicians, so it's probably the best place to start making friends, networking, pitching song ideas etc. Higher up the food chain you will be viewed in terms of cold hard cash, so you'd better have a salable product almost ready to go.
