    Hi,
How can I handle REAPER remotely through laptop? The actual session is in my PC. I want to access it through my laptop. I have tried the Remote Desktop Connection but I can't hear any sound through REAPER!

    Help me!

P.S. - I want to connect it through same wireless network (i.e my router), just want to use it in another room.

    TeamViewer maybe?

Never tried running a daw, but I've watched videos with sound.
Seems like it won't work though. Need ASIO supported remote connection.

i suppose your OS is Windows (RD) and that can only handle sound transfer via WMA (SoundMapper?), which - when working in DAWs - hardly anyone uses. In Linux it should be possible to route ASIO through whatever horror aka "Jack"-equivalent they have nowadays (dunno; Linux only on servers here).

So for Windows there seems to be a solution I have read of somewhere ... checking .. back: http://odeus-audio.com.au/Odeus/AsioLink
or the discussion on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/edmproduct...a_you_can_use_audio_in_the_windows_mixer_and/

But I have never tried anything like that and no smeggin clue as how good this works.

EDIT: if you wanna give it quick go with WMA ... make sure you have the option "Play audio on remote computer" checked when opening the remote connection.

i am not sure if this might be the solution you think abt.
Its in German, but u might understand what he does while watching

This guy knows what he is doin with Cubase, he does a lot of very useful tutorials, but in German.

He connects his main PC with a separate PC via network and shares CPU resources. In Cubase they tried this already long time ago via digital cable and ASIO.
Afaik the Reaper community uses networksharing aswell. Check their Forums. I am using Reaper only as a 2nd choice as Laptop DAW and for Audio, i know only basics of Reaper.

you can use ReaStream to stream audio/midi over ethernet/wifi. You can use ReaMote to offload the fx processing to another pc, such as running the session locally on your laptop but having all the plugins processed on your pc. Makers of reaper also make ninjam for collaborating on audio projects over a network http://www.cockos.com/ninjam/

I find Chrome Remote Desktop to be the fastest since it doesn't use RDP but it's own protocol.

RDC has bad performance and you can forget about it...
TeamV is not an option, because sound will go through TV servers and back to you, even if you are in another room :)
Try with Ultra VNC, as I remember it has great performance and it work locally through network.

I was gonna suggest you to use ReaStream. or you can work on the project on your laptop if you have a good DA and monitor speakers connected to your laptop, and offload the plugin processing to your main PC, with a somewhat low latency, but not usable for tracking, just for mixing.

You didn't mention how you're managing the sound e.g. are you listening through headphones or what? you could also route digital audio if it's AES/EBU from the main room to the adjacent room. Maybe even normal coaxial SPDIF would work.

Maybe, some light VNC and reastream on master channel, so you can listen on some IP:PORT on your laptop... I never worked with reastream but I think it can does a job.

If you use ReaStream you don't have to worry about which remote desktop program to use, just use the fastest and lightest - VNC.

    From the Reaper manual...

    23.9 ReaMote

ReaMote is REAPER's network FX functionality. It allows you to have any FX chain in your project processed on a
remote machine on your local network. This is useful if you want to add more CPU power to your project (to run
various FX) without upgrading your main host's CPU. You will need to set up ReaMote and install REAPER and
your plug-ins on the slave machines.

For OS X users, ReaMote can be installed when REAPER is installed, by dragging and dropping the ReaMote icon
into the Applications folder icon. For Windows users, make sure when installing REAPER that you have
ReaMote selected and enabled under Additional functionality on the Choose components page of the
install wizard. Run the ReaMote slave on the slave machines, then enable ReaMote in the REAPER Preferences
on the master, specify your settings and options, and you're ready to go!

To learn more about how to set up and use ReaMote, go to wiki.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/ReaMote
