not essentially or fundamentaly, but it CAN have... it depends on your execution.

There are some songs like Orbital - Halcyon on and on that start off as purely ambient, but then they end up going into a dance groove which feels amazing.

Those kinds of sounds I guess are acceptable because it still stays in the electronic realm.

Downtempo is also accepted as a type of ambient that includes half time drums and nice atmospheres.

But so far, this album is turning out to be without drums and percussion so I don't recommend anyone try something with drums since it would be difficult to put in... so keep it purely ambient and atmospheric.

When making ambient you can escape certain rules like in my track I started off harsh atmospheric, then I went soft and then all of a sudden I had some dancey style arps in there, but essentially, it kept an ambient sound all together...

    Hi, happy new year mates!
Nice to see the album going on, since the last time I was here. Some pretty beautiful pieces of sound appeared.:chilling:
Some more listener-friendly than others, but each interesting in their approach and vision of ambient music.

Besides, I am also quite eager to contemplate the artwork.

    See you next.

    hi!

i know the question has been asked before in the thread, but i'd like to know if it's possible to be a part of the project, despite i'm not what you can call an "active member", since i'm quite busy with other things :bleh:
(and most of the time questions finds an answer quickly)

and i'm also a fresh-starter in DJing, and if someone can let me know if there's a place in the forum(s) where i can introduce myself?,
    i didn't find it :dunno:

tank you & have a great day

It reminds me of burial style music almost, really nice riffage, its kind of a mixture between like almost slowed trancey style synths with the playground sample. I like it a lot. My only thing would be to turn down the playground sample a bit? its overly prominent in the mix and it takes up till about 1:30 till the main synth comes in. I think you could introduce some other small element at about 3-4 minutes, maybe tease the bell sounds that come in at the end in some really subtle way.

I agree with what@SyNtH. said @n0xin, just sit the playground sample a bit farther back into the mix. too dominant.

Much different from everyone else's stuff, but I feel the album should have some wide variation anyway. This is my track. Drums aren't too heavy. It's more of an indie chill/pop track, but it sounds pretty damn ambient to me. Haha. The atmosphere is audible as the shimmering starry phasing sound in the background. Gives hint to a starry night. I wrote this track when I felt like running away from home because I felt like I just didn't belong and I felt a huge sense of disposition. So I wanted to close my eyes and slip away from my current place and drift into the depths of my enigmatic sub-conscience and go wherever the music took me. This was a successful attempt at doing that for myself. The bass may not be too audible because of the kick drum, also. This is my style of music that I create. I pictured myself standing on the beach I grew up living on, and watching the meteor showers in the night sky as I watched happy tourist families come and go. That was the message I tried to convey - stargazing in the summer night sky.
I hope you guys like it. Try to be nice in terms of feedback, please. Lol.

    Cheers :mates:

@Impressive ,nice peaceful piece. I don't know why, because it doesn't looks like but reminds me Satriani A Day At The Beach. Maybe the same kind of mood, between happiness and nostalgia. Besides, a touch of real instrument and playing feeling add something more human, more reachable emotions IMHO (even if I also like ethereal space synth stuff).

It's also cool that it's different, that each person do their stuff as they are and don't looking to stick on a pure ambient style. It's what I have found interesting in tits track for example. It would be a shame that everybody want to sound like ArctiStorm or SyNtH.

    However, :like:

Nice track @Impressive! Very nice chilled vibe. Like the guitar work. You know I have been struggling with my track because I was trying to fit the theme everyone else was kind of going with, and it just isn't working with me, so I have to agree with what @Ash has said. I'm going to go to what I feel, even though it will be not like the rest.

I have listened to it, and realized I uploaded an older version of that track. I will fix this in a few minutes.

The official version of it. The outro is the more prominent difference.

I have already submitted my track but here is a short piece i have also done. Listening to the other great submissions I'm not sure if it entirely fits the theme to be honest but here it is for better or for worse.

    its a "Coda".......a summation.....floating.....peacefulness.....out of body.....an ending or maybe a beginning ??? :dunno:
