It is always easier to sing, and will yield better results when standing. When standing you can work your diaphragm better to control your air flow.

I put the mic 6 - 12 inches away, pointing straight towards the mouth using a pop filter inbetween them.

i do like this: i put on my headphones and listen to my voice through the favourite channelstrip settings in realtime when singing, experiment until i get the sound i like. the latency is big so i turn off the plugins on the channelstrip when recording.

I put a popfilter in front of the mic (6-10 cm distance)
and sing 15 -30 cm from the mic. (or more), depends on how you sing. there is no rule.
you can sit or you kan lay down but i think you get less tired and the best result if you stand up straight like burninstar said.

if the mic is angled a little bit from below you should get a slightly brighter sound at the same time reducing your pops :)

just do what sounds best really. there's way to many factors that make it unpredictable how it's gonna sound, so just try out a couple of set-ups that make sense and listen closely to what sounds best.

Stand, (a lot of the setup depends on the mic itself) I use an overhead boom (similar to pictured setup), I keep the pop filter a good 'spread hand' away from the mic, and stand a good spread hand from the filter, avoid moving or swaying during the take -- set and watch your trim levels (easier to boost a low signal after record, than to retake later because the signal was too hot/distorted)

Now, understand -- the reality is -- it's all about personal preference and YOUR ART (sound) -- experiment !

That is a little odd. Especially with that many nice mics around. I wonder where the roadies are?

anyway...whats the difference between having the mic upside down like that and having it the "normal" way?

I have it upside down because of gravity. My mic stand is guaranteed to fall over unless I have the mic pointing down.

    Looks gansta too
