Yup. The government's always spying on us over here in the states. To protect our safety, so they claim. But truth of the matter is, there have been a multitude of cases around the nation where people have posted on Fartbook or Twatter what they were going to do just days before they did it, and they ended up doing it. Just a few weeks ago here in my home state a guy pledged or social media he was going to go to a doctor's office and kill a doctor in cold blood and then kill himself or some shit, and ended up doing it hours later. With 300 million people over here, I understand it's not easy to look at everyone's phone. But it hasn't appeared to work as much as it should. :dunno:

It seems to be the usual approach. A verdict from a judge that for sure is no expert for this matter. I wonder how many independent experts were heard before this decision was made. I bet, none.
Even if there is good intention, nobody that ever used an operating system could seriously think that there is a chance to not misuse such a backdoor for every phone that uses such operating system. It's stupidity, mixed with desperation (I'm sure the FBI has a lot of pressure to produce results in the case) and a case-law that changed to "everyone is guilty until proven otherwise". They do really think they have the right to risk hundreds of millions being spyed just to get the data from this one phone. It is not even sure if there is data that will help in the case.

They can turn it the way they want : if they are not assisting the government (only nice sentences so far) then they are passively on the terrorists side.

Try to imagine that you lost someone from your family and that the only way to catch the culprit would be to perform a phone data extraction.
Now how would you feel if they tell you that this can't be done, not because of some technical limitations, but because of some freedom BS principles?

I disagree in this case it has to do with national security and out safety. We all desire to live a full life and not be murdered by a crazy person in the name of allah.

Everyone knows by now that the so-called threat from "terrorists" is a trumped-up governmental pretext to erode privacy, curtail civil rights, and control, restrict and persecute (accordingly) the populace. However, as long as the wi-fi signal is at two bars or better in the "re-education" camp, I'm cool with these off-the-chain national-security measures. Can't live without my MILF porn and cat videos on my iDroid.

because NSA boss Michael Rogers says so? rigorous observation, legal or illegal, under the false pretense of protecting people? I'm too old and not gung ho enough to buy the NSA's BS for a second. Benjamin Franklin anyone? "Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one."

i saw the "open letter" the other day, seriously good guy tim cook. every government would love to control the entire nation and not have to jump through hoops. but it's a great thing that apple did this and basically said fuck you. we take our customers privacy seriously.

whats even funnier is that google ceo tweeted about this and basically put in his support, which is ironic considering google loves to track everything you do

No because they want to kill all of us, Period. This is not a game. That crap that went on in CA, Paris, etc was nothing but murder, plain and simple and it could happen to any of us. This is a time that I feel we have to give up some of our civil liberty to protect or self's. Is it unfortunate yes, Do I want them spying on me no, but in the end to I want to know I am safe and can live and die a normal life, totally yes.
So can I sacrifice some of my freedom during this time, totally to make sure we are free and protected, YES.

This is not to start a war in here, It's just the way I feel.

This is one reason why I despise google even though I can't avoid them. They just don't have front doors. Everything for them are backdoors through which they come into your life and hijack it.

    A question:

Cannot Apple gives the informations (messages, web links etc) to FBI without reveal how they did it? Is it so hard? The judge had not asked Apple to reveal how to crack the iPhone... :dunno:
