Hey! I'm just about to build something similar.
Have you thought about a case to keep the beast as quiet as possible?

I suggest to keep the OS on different drives. But you can have both on the same drive like i did before getting the SSD. And then moved the OSX partition with Carbon Copy Drive.

I'm not sure why you would choose this type of drive for a studio computer. Its designed for NAS use and is rather slow, 5900 rpm, fine for raid use but not optimized for audio use.

I use WD Black SATA Desktop Hard Drive's, fast, quiet and a 5 yr warranty. Yes, as always, slightly more expensive than the seacrate but i'd rather have a smaller sized WD black than a larger, slower seacrate.

There is a review of the seacrate nas drives here, http://www.storagereview.com/seagate_nas_hdd_review

and a review of a WD black here, http://www.storagereview.com/wd_black_4tb_desktop_hard_drive_review_wd4003fzex

Time to find a cheaper macaroni supplier :)

Cases do need airflow, if you 'just' put it in a soundproofing box, temperatures inside will get very high - you will fry your new hardware if you block in- and outlets on the case. I personally got a passivly cooled GPU, Big ass Thermaltake CPU cooler with slow blowing fans and a silent PSU. Hardly don't hear my build, guess my external USB drives make more noise..

Hardware: you've chosen almost 5 year old hardware, maybe to be on the safe side for a Hackintosh build? I'm gonna upgrade myself soon, but will go with Skylake/Z170 &DDR-4 RAM, now on the market for half a year, and more and more success stories, like here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-desktop-guides/
If I'm spending money on a new build, I wanna be as future proof as possible..

Well Guys finally put the computer together

    Windows 7 works great

Mackintosh works great also took a while to try and find

Yosemite ,,,,could not find one to buy,,even at the apple store

or a downloadable one to work in unibeast ,,,

    ,finally had to use
    Yosemite Niresh's

version but it will not let me update it so I am at 10.10.1

if anyone could point me in the right direction

    or sell me a
    Install OS X Yosemite.app

one I could use to make an unibeast boot loader

    I would appreciate it

    THANKS for all your help

I used to run a hackintosh with Niresh's distro. I used the hacked AMD kernel one, so that added extra layers of fun :/

Once you have a version of the OS that works & does everything you want it to do, I suggest you take a snapshot of it (I used Paragon; pop in the boot USB stick and you're off). You'll never know when the next OS update breaks your system, and troubleshooting hackintoshes are a pain in the ass.

    Good luck!

    Thanks Guys

    Update to 10.10.5 with downloaded

OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 Combo Update

this worked when the software update did not

rebooted held my breath and everything super great,,,, only took 3 days ,,,many hours of why did this not work

now it looks and acts like a fully functioning Mac,, I have swappable main drives,,so swap in windows I have

Windows 7,,,swap in mac I have Yosemite

Going to Make a backup now ,,,cannot remember every step along the way but to get it to load properly

I had to pull the video card and one stick of ram ,,use the onboard video dvi output

The boot options I used are :

    GraphicsEnabler=No maxmem=4096 npci=0x2000

two much memory caused it to hang
    usually they set

GraphicsEnabler to yes but this did not work
I always find it funny that it takes all kind of messing around to get these things
to work but once you get it work it stops fighting you and off it goes

he drivers I just downloaded the mac drivers for internet, video card etc

installed them and away it went

font size changed hit a windows key that means something different on a Mac
guess I should get a Mac keyboard

    All Work Great Now:thanks:
    :thanks::thanks::cheers:
