Hans Zimmer was once asked, what is his secret to his success?
He pointed to his mixing console, directly to a red fader and said; "It cant be bad if its red".

I guess it might be something along the line of Sonar's ProChannel.
    or something witchy...

Haha. But let's not underestimate because S1 is in evolution being a new DAW.
May be they will come up with something really good at later stages....

Studio One is an amazing DAW. If you want to get work done reliably and fast it's by far the nicest DAW I've ever used. I moved from Cubase to it and I feel like I hit the ground running whenver I start a new project in Studio One. It's intuitive, fast, solid (mostly), and I love how it works. I'm not gonna nitpick stuff like how the waveforms look or if the GUI is a touch 'flat' (V3) because the rest is so great.

FTR I've used ProTools, Reaper and Cubase and none of them compare to Studio One V3 for what counts for me (mainly an audio guy playing real stuff in but occasional MIDI). The midi is fine for 90% of uses, only the more advanced midi users would need cubase, personally I see it as a streamlined and almost 'perfect' mix/production DAW not an everything but the kitchen sink mess like most other bloated DAWS turned into.

I once tried Sonar and it was awful in comparison to Cubase and Studio one, truly shitty. :)

I await the announcement with interest, I don't really need any revolution over what we have as Studio One is great as it is now - it does the job and gets out of the way, very slick and creative workflow ensues in it. Which is not what I could say about Cubase et al, even after decades of using them.

While it may soak up a bit more CPU than some DAWS it's not so much that it's ever been a problem for me, but then I'm not the kind who loads my channels with 15 plugs or uses stacks of VSTis, I use enough to get the job done and even at 88k which I use exclusively I'll never have problems mixing (set buffer higher) or recording (bypass heavy FX if needed while recording). I run it with an MR816x.

Ease up on S1, it's probably the most forward thinking DAW in existence and isn't around just to tick bullet points on 'how many cool features' it includes. Frankly it blew me away (back in V2.5?) when I switched to it from Cubase, everything that used to take time to do in other DAWS is one drag/drop or one right click away. Beautiful!

IMO this would make me like S1 LESS not more. One of the reasons I moved FROM cubase to S1 is exactly to escape all the bloat and BS of it and all the other modern DAWS that can't see the wood for the trees.

I say NO THANKS to adding features for the sake of it, Studio One philosophy was different from all other DAWS which is why it's so good. It's not that they couldn't add every feature from every DAW (the guys who made S1 originally worked at Steinberg and one of them even invented VST3!) it's because they could see where all other DAWS were going wrong and wanted to make a better tool for the job, not just a bloated copy. If you want cubase then stick with cubase? Personally I'll take the highs of studio one over the lows of protools and cubase every time.

BTW Cubase 8 copied a lot of features from Studio One regarding workflow recently (Track Transform and others that make things effortless and easy), that is how influential and new standard setting S1 is. Before S1 these DAWS were regressing, now they are trying to be like S1 (but with their legacy bloat it's a hard situation they are in)

My music production has never been faster or better (as in I devote more time to making better mixes and less faffing around) since I moved to Studio One! :)

Yup. You say "I don't like this DAW for x' as well as some others" and dudes start throwing stones

I'm gonna play armchair psychologist here. The state of mind that treats DAW critique like a personal slight is the same one that lusts for every new plugin to be cracked because this will be the one that makes me feel secure about my abilities. Identifying with your tools and toys like it's your self or your sports team is both indicative of and causative of limited creativity and confidence.

Holy crap really? I just saw this comment.

I recall you being the very biggest advocate and resident expert for Studio One on this site. You must have been really disappointed with v3. That's a shame. You were one of the guys who sold me on it in the first place. Recording and mixing my vocals in Studio One is an absolute pleasure to me. There is not a single session when I begin with inspiration and don't marvel at the landscape of digital music creation for the fact that tools like S1, Live, Omnisphere are available.

That was you right? Didn't you make tutorials for S1 long ago?

The one issue that presonus has is their demographics - S1 has been adopted by the acoustic guys so they've been sleeping on midi a bit.

Well said. I like to leave people in dilemma. This way chances are there that they might use simple common sense as you stated.

no other daw has such numbers.
This thing can be interpreted in two ways: either for the presence of many issues, or for the need to deepen the contents: maybe both of them. Surely we can not say that there is no interest in the product.
Personally, after a not entirely positive approach with the interface, and with some not working plugins issues, I tried to test in a bit more depth Reaper and AmplitudePro.
Even if the a.m. plugins worked fine, after a couple of days I immediately returned to the base.
I don't know anything about the latest versions of Cubase, and I admit that two days are not enough for a final verdict (even though I had already tested these products in the past) but the workflow of Studio One is incomparable (personal opinion ....).

Yeah, i was the fanboy #1 probably LOL
After talking to some tech support guys and after the v3 come out i was really disappointed. At the moment i was thinking that S1 had a great potential when it comes to music production. I'm still thinking that is a great product but what really important for me is the perspective. It can be very good or very lacking depends on the point of view. From my perspective musicloops, browser and transform features are gold when it comes to electronic music (not pop edm). Videos are still aviable on YouTube but i didn't had too much time to record them anymore.

Now i feel myself very comfortable with Logic Pro X wich has all the features i need for my type of workflow, if i could grab one feature from S1 v2 would be absolutely the Browser and nothing more.
