The bar has been raised - to the "next level," uh-huh. "Powerful," "revolutionary," and probably "cutting-edge." "Disruptive?" No, software-ad copywriters haven't adopted that word yet (fortunately).

"This will impress the fucking shit outa you," might attract my interest. Or: "This will knock your cock into your watch-pocket." (Ooops – sorry, girls, I'm being a "man-speaking" sexist, there – just couldn't come up with anything hyperbolically superlative which wasn't "non-exclusionary.")

I might be interested if they start adding all the power and cool features of Cubase I still think they're a long way off from that though

haha. I think Presonus can do a lot of great things with this daw, they don't seem to have coded themselves into a box like snake on nokia phones the way Image-line and Avid have.

I just hope they stop it with the stupid live mixer integration crap.. We studio owners don't care!!

I'm actually excited to see what new features and improvements they've implemented. I was quite satisfied with the 3.1 update but they're teasing 3.2 so much I can't help but expect it to make me a grammy winning superstar. One of those OneKnob things, maybe? I only hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment.

i'm not holding my breath. Logic,Cubase are miles away when it comes to features... the new multithread abilities in Logic are amazing. They add the opportunity to raise the bar with V3 but they missed the opportunity. Good luck waiting for this one, I'm calling myself out.

OK for Logic if you use a Mac. As for Cubase, I'm not too sure: I left Cubase for S1 because it is easier and faster to work with this latest IMHO.

Agree, me too. I have been using it since it came out but recently started demoing other. Now that I can compare, S1 seems so basic in terms of midi features the least I would say. It has so much potential as the workflow is a breeze but they only focused on actual recording stuff leaving midi behind as it is. S1 really had the opportunity to stand out, as you say in v3, but they didn't listen to their loyal customers and demo-ers. When v3 came out I made a thread in Presonus forum and pointed out the shortcomings and flaws, but the thread became a war zone between the members agreeing with me and the braggers. Presonus really has long way to go. It is CPU intensive, lacking midi features, lacking some complicated routing abilities etc and when claiming to be a versatile DAW they have to work intensively to overcome these. Just because a big company can afford to advertise it like a revolutionary invention doesn't mean it is going to be what they say, an example of which is v3. For the same reason I hate Spitfire although their products are good but not great. As a loyal customer and a die hard user I am so sad to let it go.

Squaredheads Nora(pattern clip based chord chopper) works better with Cubase because of its chord track, so depend on your genre and workflow

macroing/layering can be made by BC PatchWork, modular fxs with Reaktor etc. the weakest point of Cubase is the automation IMO (if we are talking about EDM, currently MIDI Shaper from Cableguys is a must have, hope it will be improved) and the bugs other things like routing, MIDI editing is very nice in it

in Cubase there is shortkey which can open/close all the track related instruments/fxs at the same time, which IMO faster then the tab based solution of S1 (except if u work with laptop, so yepp on laptop I would choose S1 maybe)
