A snippet of a new song of mine coming out soon. Possible contribution. It's just house/dance music. Lol. Although I do produce music in a myriad of other genres.

I didn't contribute to the first album, but I did buy it. I would definitely buy the next one :)

I will publish rules and deadline "soon" (hate to use that word). It's now a priority for me.

So let's talk about this for just a moment, and if I'm out of line or need corrected Andrew, please forgive me. If memory serves me correctly, you generously fronted the money out of your own pocket to press these physical copies and artwork covers, even though around that same time you were in a somewhat financial bind because of a job move to another country, and at that time you still had boxes of these CD's left unsold (YES)??

That was like Christmas 2014 according to my mailing package, and apparently a number of folks stepped up and purchased some of these, and yet over a year later you are still stuck with 30 physical copies of the original album at $10.00 per album is $300 gone out of your pocket. It may be clear to say in many ways the first community album was a success for maybe everyone, but you! IMHO I feel you ended up getting taken advantage of and screwed financially.

I was not privy to the discussions and decisions behind the logistics of selling these physical albums, if it was an honor type commitment by members to purchase a set number in advance of ordering or what. :dunno: The only reason I'm bringing this up is if the community is planning on putting together a second album, maybe some more thought or a different approach needs to be debated concerning distribution methods.

I fully understand that besides the artists who provided their music, there was a number of people who worked behind the scenes generously donating their time and skills (administration, organization, artwork, mixing, mastering etc). I just feel that it's unfair for anyone like Andrew to have to lose money out of their pocket to make a community album happen.

It's not $300 loss, more like $140, as those unsold albums didn't have to be shipped. I don't consider it as being at a disadvantage, actually it was my decision to produce 50 physical copies, and therefore I was responsible even for the losses. I could've produced only 20, but didn't want to upset anyone with insufficient stock. What disappointed me though, that even those who said in public that they're ordering "next week" never placed an order.
Back in Nov-2014, Catalyst insisted on high quality print, which was a bit more expensive, even though there were no risks involved from his side. :dunno: I ended up ordering the HQ print, which ramped the price, but only by a little.
To avoid financial loss by any party for the 2nd installment, no physical release will be made. I made a preliminary post about it a while ago.

Big shocker there, figured maybe that was part of what happened. Sorry I totally missed your preliminary post about not having physical release....good decision! It just always kinda bothered me since it happened, thanks for clearing it up. Cheers!
