Sorry if this is a stupid question but I felt this place was the only place I could turn to after I couldn't google a good answer. So is there a way to run one of the newer versions of Logic on windows? Specifically windows 7?

Nope. Only way is to run it on Windows is in a virtual machine or make your computer a Hackintosh.

Just use one of the DAWS that work on windows.
    Cubase 5 still kicks ass
    Ableton is amazing

All can be found at a ''major'' discount on a certain Audio site

Not really. Although technically possible, running Logic in a VM will give you much higher latency, and a Hackintosh is not Windows.

The only option, as already said, would be Logic Platinum 5.5.1, because it's the last native Windows version before Emagic gave up their independence.
Old but still not bad, it contains ES1, ES2, EVP88, EVB3, EVD6, EXS24, EVOC20 and enough FX plugins for halfway serious productions. And it's a rock-solid piece of software. That's why there are still some people using it.

Hackintosh your PC! or different virtual machines and blah-blah similar stuff. Or Emagic Logic Platinum 5.5.1, which is unactual (possibly latest plugins support, your processor threads and RAM will work in not-full limited way, so like powerful PC of 2000-2005). Or wait years for "Logic Pro v38 is now for Windows, but iLok 8 here combined with eLicenser X3 HD and WiBU Ultra 2045 and u-he's updated timebomb technologies" smth like dat

By that time we will have started making music in Virtual Reality most likely.

    no problem.
I used the Niresh release for OSX, i didn't build mine from scratch like people do this days. I was able to install both Mavericks and Yosemite.
Download the DMG from the web and burn it to USB with TrasnferMac then boot the USB with this flags "-x -v -f" if doesn't work than try for "-x -f"

Once you booted correctly format the partition you want as "hfs+ journaled" then select the correct drivers for your hardware before install. (i'll post my kext asap) then install, If installation fails than try again with different kext until you get the correct setup.

I suggest Chamaleon as bootloader if you want to keep dual boot system with Windows

Google "Maverick's Niresh" or "Yosemite Niresh" or "El Capitan Niresh" for the DMG

By today's standard, Logic 5.5's GUI looks ugly.
I wonder if it supports vst2 otherwise there's no way I can give this a try.

I wouldn't be surprised a lot of cats are still on Logic 5. I know this one Danish guy who uses some software called Making Waves, which is like a tracker based thingey that looks like it's from 1995. But what he can do with it... it's crazy. What I can do in reaper or fl studio in a few hours, he can do in 20 minutes. I tried demoing it, but I gave up... it's alien.
