Tips and secret on Multiband compression for Mastering

    Multiband compression its a big secret in mastering. Can anyone give enphasis on setting the attack and release settings in different band of the multiband comp in mastering

    You can't go wrong with FabFilter because their plugins are powerful and at the same time easy to use. Damn, even addictive lol

    Also, even if you don't use it, Waves C4 is a de facto standar and this means lot of learning stuff available.
    I think that nowadays the C6 is the most advanced, but is a beast, I don't think the best option for learning.

    depends what you want to achieve, and what music style you're working on. slow attack = lets through the transients, more snappy,punchy,explosive-like. but you wouldn't use the slowest attack settings, dial them back a bit. faster attacks give you creamier sound.
    mastering ratio settings usually go from 1.1:1 , 1.5:1 , 2.0:1 on every band. i use these attack/release settings all the time (slowish attack slowish release, 'cause you don't want pumping but to beef up the sound. [​IMG]
