after playing the witcher 3 i totally fell in love with the custom built byzantine lyra like instrument played by katarzyna bromirska from the polish folk music band "percival". now i wonder if you know a similar sounding kontakt library or a name of an instrument that sounds very similar like this?

maybe there is even something similar to it in the logic pro x factory library ???

In Greece we use the name "Politiki Lyra", which means Lyra from Poli, the nick name that Greeks use for Constantinople aka Instabul.
Back in the old days, they used to use strings made out of guts (and I believe they still use), with this unique sound as a result. A variation of this instrument uses sympathetic strings with more psychedelic sound.
Similar to Politiki Lyra is Pontiaki Lyra or Kemetze, the Lyra from Pontos, an area placed under black sea in North East Anatolia.
BTW, the theme reminds me a band from the 80s called Dead Can Dance.

thank you very much for your suggestions, now i need some time to check the stuff out ... Theres something about the rebec i like very much, unfortunately most of the demos really dont come close to the sound im after - but all of them sound really interesting and unique

 

have'nt search enough but Eduardo Tarilonte's Era 2 medieval legends must have something to this..
