I love this video, the songs not too bad either .. absolutely the best band in China right now

 

If enough steady and polonged heat is applied, of course in the end it all boils down to a tar-like, highly viscous and extremely burnt mess at the bottom of the pot, but before then we might come upon a point in cooking up a meal, though if artfully crafted with care and love, the finest available ingredients and crafty skill, a sensually delicious and stimulating adventure unto itself and one which will nurture the body, mind and spirit with delectable tastes and fill us to the brim with emotion and awe, enabling our senses to transcend what we previously believed to be only the very finest we had ever possibly eaten, what could actually and honestly've been the best of the best of the best. Each course would lead gracefully to the next, or not, but even the surprises would bring to us a special joy, to bless us with its novel, innate pefection. Tangents are good.

Creating a masterpiece is usually not a simple affair, and it is impossible in the truest sense of the word that one person is unto themselves and living far far away and on a deserted and lonely isle surrounded by the desert like ocean, literally cut off from all outside influence. And unless the Artist is The Great Creator itself (and perhaps even then some) by very definition the artist must depend on an ensemble cast in the way of support in order to supply both tools and raw materials with which to exact it's work. For example, the master stone mason is highly unlikely to make the tools, quarry the rocks, transport the raw stone or to play the role of architect, money-man, et al.

In parallel, when it comes down to modern day musical production, there is need of a great many individuals to record and foster a single solitary resonating tone, not unlike the harmonics that comprise a single note, for as we know, a single and solitary note is a rather complex affair that might fool us in thinking it simple, but is really anything but. It is a complex affair which depends on itself to maintain its own spark of life throughout its cycle of existence. And it cannot live in a vacuum for sound depends on an atmosphere to foster it's reach. And in terms of the masterwork of which I speak, the air which surrounds it is filled with the heady and sweet essence of jasmine flowers on a beautiful spring day.

Joanna Newsome is a fortunate woman. Her name appears on the cover art of her 2006 release, YS. What you don't see is the list of creators that coalesced, magnetically and magically attracted, together in place and time to craft such rare and tangible beauty, to gift us with as near to perfection that we could bear with our frail human bodies and minds, our souls graciously preserving us from slip-sliding between dimensions and be forever lost in quest for continued nirvana. Steve Albini, Van Dyke Parks and that whole which is surely greater than the sum of its parts, the supporting musicians, cover Artist and if I might be so bold, even the person who cleaned up after them, all came together in a brave effort to define a moment of feeling, an impossibility somehow magically realized in the span of five tracks that will live forever in my heart.
