I use Kontakt, but hate the external library navigation windows, with a passion.

 

I hear you, Brother! I remember busting out a song or two in day. Now, I'm a librarian.

 

Some vendors even sell VST's statically scaled to 1280, including rack romantic and mini fonts as "new products".
It's a real shame. I will try Halion these days and hope the UI has usability.

it would be nice if with the kontakt gui you could scale the window sizes, or even have a double row instead of the single scrolling nightmare it currently is. i still use it though

 

Ok. I completely understand.
Cubase is my Main DAW.

I have been Purchasing Cubase since SX3 (around 2004). Both "twoheart" and "Bunford" are correct. Steinberg releases a "0.5" release ever year. They add a few minor changes in the "0.5" and a major change in the full revision every 2 years. The updates are usually not fairly expensive, but you don't need to buy them; if you dont want the revisions.

Cubase has always released update with bugs and then later fixes them in a "0.1 or 0.2" free update. The UI in 7 and 8 looks great in comparison to 5 and 6. They do need an overhaul in the Automation department, especially involving automation curves. Cubase is renowned for for releasing new versions of Cubase without asking the customers what they want added. I've been requesting polyphonic midi extract for at least 3 years now....

Abelton Live has had that for quite some time....
They just do what they want and hope people like it.

LOL kontakt should roll sample logic style and make a G.U.I like Thunder Springs or Cinematic guitars..post apocalyptic and steampunk = epic win, or in reality, an epic fucking fail LMFAO XD ;)
