What kind of UI is that??? It's hard to make an EQ more unintuitive than this.

Agreed, the GUI is horrendous. Might sound good tho, who knows.

 

it is based on this bad boy (UE 1000). so really the GUI is pretty spot on

 

They both look like science projects, but prob sound good as shit. At least the original.
Never even seen nor heard of it until I saw the Acqua version.

It's actually based on the UE-100


The UE-100 is a pure tube equalizer, developed and built by the firm Klein+Hummel in the 50s and 60s. The machine is divided in 6 groups/modules, which are mounted at the front panel and can be removed individually. Every module is bridgeable internally and can be taken out of the circuit very easily. The design is even today on the top and very modern, even finer built than Neumann or EMT. The very best ever made in Germany. Two full parametric middle bands, low cut/boost (applicable at the same time) and hi cut/boost (applicable at the same time). A kind of a Pultec EQP-1A on steroids. This EQ is the 'hen's teeth' of Pro Audio. They are one of, if not THE, best EQ's ever made. It was the blueprint for the Fairman TMEQ.

 

I stand corrected. If anything this makes the GUI of the plugin even more accurate

 

woooooww that real machine loooks awesome, like the bossmaster eq.
maybe not so intuitive, but worth the time to learn it i suppose
lindel plugs sound very...specific and good! (have tried the lindell bundle eq)

 

Well, they did a good job of recreating the original interface, I'll give them that. That interface is just poor in my opinion... I don't think adding workflow improvements in the much more flexible digital realm would harm the sonic authenticity of the plugin. I'm sure Lindell and others would disagree with me, though. I'm of the new generation of audio engineers, I've grown up using mostly software, so perhaps I just don't have the experience to judge.

Lindell has some of the best sounding plugins i have heard to date. Hopefully NAMM brings more cool stuff out.
