SONiVOX, a leading developer of premium virtual instruments and synthesis technologies, today announced the immediate availability of its revolutionary new Pitch2MIDI real-time audio-to-MIDI synthesizer and converter software. SONiVOX recognizes that singers and instrumentalists also want the ability to play and record music with software virtual instruments. But until today, they haven’t been able to do so in the same way as their keyboard or drum controller co-musicians have. Now they can. This is because SONiVOX’s Pitch2MIDI software plugin doesn’t require you to record your audio first, then stop and wait to hear the results as the audio is pre-processed. SONiVOX’s Pitch2MIDI software works in real time, immediately converting the audio signal into MIDI events so you can hear the results while your singing or playing. The old way of first having to record your audio severely hampered the artist’s ability to create spontaneously. With Pitch2MIDI, artists can sing or play while hearing their virtual instruments at the same time.

Pitch2MIDI is an audio effect plug-in that takes real-time vocal or instrumental monophonic audio input and instantly transforms it into accurate MIDI output. Using the built-in synthesizer, artists can use their voice or instrument to play any one of over 100 synth sounds directly, or bypass the internal synth and send MIDI out to any of hundreds of popular virtual instruments on the market. Since it’s real-time, it’s not necessary to record the audio first or process it before hearing the results. Instead, it’s instantaneous—MIDI output is created as the artist sings or plays!

Not only will vocalists and instrumentalists love using this, but it’s also perfect for producers too. Now they can immediately add new sonic layers and textures to their audio tracks, without needing to do any post-recording processing.

Pitch2MIDI sets creativity free by removing the “record-then-process” obstacle. If you can hear it in your imagination, Pitch2MIDI will deliver it in reality!

    Pich2MIDI Features:
    • Play virtual instruments using your vocals, instrument, or any monophonic audio in real time
    • Built-in synthesizer with over 100 sounds
    • Sends MIDI out of the plugin so you can play any VSTi of your choice
    • Instantly add new layers of harmony or sonic textures
    • Real-time graphic display of audio and MIDI conversion
    • No MIDI interface needed to communicate between applications

System Requirements: Mac or Windows with Intel processor and 4GB RAM (8GB recommended) Mac OS 10.9 or later Win OS 8/64 bit or later VST, AU, AAX 64 bit compatible

“Pitch2MIDI completely changes the game for vocalists, acoustic instrumentalists, electric guitarists and bassists—really anybody who plays a non-MIDI producing instrument. Using Pitch2MIDI, all these musicians now have access to the thousands of popular virtual instruments and synthesizers on the market,” said Jennifer Humper, Director of Content Development for inMusic Brands. “Even better, they can experiment and perfect their performance since the plugin doesn’t need to pre-process the audio first.”

Pitch2MIDI launches in early February for $149.99
A full 15 day trial will be available

Looks awesome but i doubt how accurate it might be.

As with melodyne or Live, probably have to go in and spend ages cleaning up incorrect and random notes.

    Perhaps its better, who knows.

fuck, everybody is doing the same pitch correction and alignment software but nobody gets it right...

love the new logic pro 10.2.1 pitch GUI but maybe they should first understand why using both flex time and flex pitch on the same audio produces awful artefacts.

same for revoice, not any better

based on my experience, Melodyne is the real winner, but so much time consuming...

Playing a "mono" instrument I have been always fascinated by real time pitch to midi conversion.. There are a lot of problems.. How to handle pitch variations? with pitch bend or controllers? and legato? In Reaktor and Max there are modules that bypass midi and the things are more simple. In my opinion one of the most successful attempts was Antares Kantos... sadly discontinued, I don't remember however if it had midi out. Midi guitar is not bad .. but no miracles. I will try this one..

Yeah live's harmony to midi function produces hilarious results that sound like kids randomly banging a piano! These kind of technologies have a long way to go :)

Are they using pitch correction in real time as a sales point? I've been doing that with autotune for years.

There have been tools, utilities and plugins to do this for years. The results are often poor and unreliable at best. From my understanding to physically fit MIDI to a guitar would be the best way of doing this. It's expensive and I am not sure how reliable that system is?

However, I have managed to get some interesting results when using slow attack string/drone type sounds triggered through such as system and then layering the original guitar (w/FX) over the top.

So as far as the software goes, it all comes down to if the algorithm as any better than any of the others on the market. What a sales pitch when they use the term 'revolutionary' - well I suppose it was about 15 years or so ago.

Get latest ReaPlugs and use Reatune It free and also has similar function of sending midi.

UPD Looks like ReaPlugs doesnt contain Reatune (
But REAPER users still can use it!
