A lot of cracked software are around these days!

How exactly do you use this cracked software? ..... As: try before buy" or "yeah, yet another expensive soft I can use for free"?

You might ask how I use expensive cracked software!!! And the answer is: try before buy!

Not because Im an angel, I just want to support developers risking their time, knowledge and money - if they do the job!

If youre asking me honestly last year i wouldve said only stuff that could never or is notorious for being hard to crack, but ive slowly started phasing out of that and buying everything., so ive bought cubase, pro tools (at the time audioutopia didnt exist though), vienna symphonic library. Ive bought waves gold because cracked aax doesnt work in legit pro tools.

Software is expensive!! for someone i do for fun, I don't have the $$$ to shell out just for a hobby.

I will say though that I got lucky and got logic pro x for free from my former roommate that worked at apple.
I also splurged on the SoundToys bundle when they had their black friday sale last year. Yea, it's hella expensive, but the plugins sound amazing!!!

part of doing music is being resourceful.....I'll just leave it at that.

I buy what I can afford, nothing more, nothing less. I have always said though, if and when this starts to become something more than a hobby, ANY money I earn from the software will go into buying the software.

OS, DAW, quality plugins priced fairly, desert island synth, slowly working towards buying other daily use plugins.

In my opinion your OS and DAW should always be legit so you can get proper technical support if you should need it.

I have a legit OS and DAW. And about 1/3 of the plugins I use are legit. If a company really proves its usefulness in the long-term, I generally buy it eventually. Makes getting updates a hell of a lot easier.

definitely try before buy. I Then if it is not too expensive will buy it and if it is slightly expensive and something I can afford or it is the right time of the year for discounts I wait till a sale because I will usually be aware of past sales so I will wait till one happens and buy it then. There are not a lot of things on my system now because I install things on my old crap computer first to test it and I am going to use revo and sandboxie for safety reasons and I need to install those and learn to use them first.

You know, several times in the last couple weeks I've seen Dislike or Dumb votes on innocuous posts of generally well-liked members and found your handle on it. So I figured your disposition would be something like this. Looks like I'm right about another one.

Lol @ don't buy plugins because a couple companies have gone under or been bought out. And with such stinging cynicism too. If you're cheap I won't hold it against you. If you cherry pick a few examples of companies who would have been bad investments IF you had actually paid for their plugs (but 10 to 1 you never have) that makes you a hypocrite, which I will hold against you. Man up.

The first app I bought was Lcx mu and logic pro 6 or 8 the one that had the white dongle that was never being cracked, came in a big piano box with a big printed manual.
Now I can afford it I buy all my apps out right. some time ill dabble with cracks and if the app is useful ill buy it.
No shame in using crack apps,

    Same here for two reasons:
If I don't like it or rarely use it, it's deleted, no hassle.
If I do like it and find I use it a lot, I will buy it, even if just for the sake of having carefree updates and knowing "I legally own this plugin." Otherwise I'll will feel guilty (esp if I admire/respect the developer, Klanghelm and Reaper are perfect examples) and don't care whether that's believed or not.

Slate and Waves are examples of devs I do not particularly admire/respect (JUST MY OPINION) so I don't even bother downloading even though I can get them for free.

Learn to think clearly and stop with child whimpers and stop pretending to himself who is smarter than it really is.

Read again the text to which you refer (maybe a few times) untill you find out there where is the relationship (which you represent and literally is not in the text) between buying or not something and do not have more right to continued development of the same product ONCE IT IS PURCHASED, as it migrated to another platform that in no way does not interest you.

It is absolutely hypocritical you say otherwise. And you still dares to come speak in hypocrisy ...
Because, you don't mind if I actually paid for what I claim (I paid for my things in a rate of 9 to 10, or 10 to 10). How dare you be so frivolous about to say something you do not know? How dare you insinuate truths and want to glue it onto whom you do not know? Restrict up, please, yourself to review what you know and stop rave about evil. As it is dishonest.

If my opinion that a review was dumb or deserves a dislike (equivalent percentage to which I found good, but only PERHAPS the evil "votes" has awakened your myopic and resentful vision), it's because I really understood that comment was dumb and deserved a dislike.

In fact, exactly like this yours now aimed at me.

What a good guy you are! Attorney of the oblivious vote.

I buy hardly any software, because I'm broke-ass po'. Yes, I do own a Macbook Pro – one now over five years old, bought used via Craigslist. I read often (in reference to others, here), "Well, if he can afford a Mac, then he can afford . . ." I can barely afford to take a shit. The Mac is the only "nice" thing I own; the only thing I could really sell-off to pay my rent, if terribly necessary. I don't go to see movies, nor go out much otherwise; I stay home and create stuff, because I'm poor.

I read a lot of posts here by people who seem to be casually affluent or moderately successful in audio production or studio performance. I hardly begrudge them their good fortune. Nice to have all the latest toys. I myself would buy fully-licensed software for audio production if I were so well-off, or if I ran a professional studio. In the latter case, I might be able to write it off as a business expense, but more importantly, it would be fully-supported, updateable, cross-upgradeable, and professionally legit. Just as importantly, I'd be justly compensating the developers – as I myself would be likewise compensated, in such a case. If I could afford the software, I wouldn't be able to live with my conscience by using cracked stuff.

I was contemplating this matter last night, as I have in the past: the availability of cracked software hurts developers only when someone who can afford the software opts for the cracked version instead (not paying for it). It doesn't possess the same economic properties of a physical comoodity in a tangible inventory. It comes down to a moral matter of paying for it or not if one can pay for it. If it's obtained for free by someone who can't pay for it, no difference is made. Furthermore, it helps developers to have cracks of their stuff "out there" so that people are better able to get acquainted with it when they couldn't otherwise. It also helps to keep the skill level of its consiituency (both paying and potential) up to competency, whereby the demand for the product is sustained.

If there be any "culpable" parties in this scenario, it's those who make the cracked software available, either by doing the reverse-engineering or by posting it for download. But then, I'm not gonna bite the hand that feeds me; I'm not saying they're "criminal" parties. It's not like they're stealing cans of food from a grocery store and giving them away to hungry people or selling them cheap to corner delis to stock on their shelves. All boats rise with the water.
