    RePro-1 Monophonic Synthesizer

The alpha version is going to be reserach ware, i.e. free like Protoverb. Hence "RePro-1 - Research Project One". It'll be a CPU hog because we want you guys to compare the unoptimised filter algorithms. We expect to release the alpha version shortly after the Superbooth in early April 2016.

The final version will be souped up with some extra features (the screenshot may make the guess easy) and it will be released for AAX/AU/VST with highly optimised filters by the end of 2016.

This is a monophonic synth. The final version will be an exceptionally close emulation of some nifty little vintage synth, with some nifty little extras added (but still not polyphonic).

In short: This is *not* coming soon! - But it'll sound great, and you're hereby prepared for some participation to happen!

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

    P.S.
    What is the Superbooth?

Really DON'T like the UI. Hope it sounds more special than SH-101.

I'm guessing it's inspired by the Sequential Pro-One . . . Which does sound rather special.

Urs.. that guy don't quit. Admittedly I'm a big fan of U-He, but his shit DOES sound good, is filled with features, and will be one of the stalwarts of the VST. This synth sits in a kind of "meh" zone however, if its just made to sound good (doesn't look good) then why have DIVA? I'm over the whole retro analogue thing, I'm looking to the future of what we make sound do, not replicate what sound did.

Andrew: Removed racial slur, please avoid them.

I was actually hoping that Native instruments would take on doing the sequential circuits stuff similar to how they took on the Minimoog and did such a great job with Monark. Maybe Urs heard they wanted to expend resources to redo Pro 53 and he is trying to beat them to the punch with a better product. I believe these 2 companies have some bad blood between them though I cant recall the whole story.

April, lol is this a research ware or a hype ware? Dude is getting old, because April for me it is too distant future and usually old people don't give a f*** about time... hence april, how about 2018 April? for me it would be no difference.

Why the hype ware, if it's a free product? What is Urs up to?
Don't get hit by a car until April, Urs.

and hopefully it's " exceptionally close emulation ", because diva is exceptional emulation of a slob truck driver, yes it sounds analogue, a true pioneer in filters, because up until it, those filters only existed on a white paper, but... it was literally a slob if you compared it one to one against, mini-moog, Jupiter 8, MS-20. Plus he never cared to fix a f***ing bug in diva, sort of bug, it's was more a mistake than a "bug", because in MS OSC module both available modulation options modulate pitch of oscillators...

Xils synth emulations sound more "instrumental" like, there's something about Diva's voices sounding like a slob truck driver, if you try to play it as if you would play one of the synthesizers it was modeled after.
So I hope this one is not modeled after "the very special hans zimmer edition" pro one, because that's the run of the mile Urs' defense when people question wtf he modeled in Diva for real, because none sound like faithful anything.
Sounds good, good slob truck driver with great engine truck, no porsche.

i found the monark shit, because why do i need a monosynth? we live in age, were we have enough power to make a monosynth a polysynth (with a switch ...)

so a monosynth def gets no attention from me.

Urs hint that RePro is possibly the start for a series of "old" synth. No added functions, no polyphony - no extras - only the sound shall be the same. It would be nice if the single synth will be fair priced let's say 30-50$/€. It would be a market niche while Urs stated u-he will not emulate the obvious synths and maybe the synth will be some kind of vst collector items. And DIVA is surely the best analog emulation out there. Everbody who tell something different has a weird taste :)

If the sound is superb the price low and the synth not just another minimoog or something I will buy one for sure. And Urs is not out of ideas this synth is just a byproduct of R&D. There will come a lot of things by u-he at least Zebra3, a Drumsynth, a Vocoder and a couple of fx. It's not about ideas it's about time and consumer wishes.

today I need monosynths! Why? because there are many polysynth)))) why not?
Monosynth can be used for basses, leads, arp, seq, FX...
and for...CHORD PADS! Yes! You can make chord pads on monosynth!

So what the fucking troubles here?)))

Agree, if i want a mono i can go buy a real one. only really interested in poly for vsti as hardware is obviously ££££. Maybe if its modular & complex but it clearly isn't. kinda hoped he would be more focused on zebra 3 than something like this.

"Niche" market is getting crowded, you have NI, Roland, Tal in terms of bare bones emulations, so previously I was asking "why a hype ware?", now it's obvious that is a test drive through a "niche" market.

Also he always admitted that Diva is not a faithful emulation of anything... hence saying "the best" it automatically implies that it's just an "opinion" considering that it sounds like a slob truck driver for some, so "besting" it makes you look like a fanboy cheer-leading it no matter what.

For you it's the best, for me it's a slob truck driver. Good, but no cigar, f**k hans zimmeer and his special edition mini-moog, jupiters and MS-20s, because I would either sell such special editions or tuck it away in the attic with all the microwaves, refrigerators and what not

Seeing that I was your first:cool:, it's clear that we have an U-he fanboy here, like the ones on kvr running all over threads saying Diva that and that, get diva out of the truck, put it in a porsche, then we will talk.
Truck can get you there and there, well synths it is modeled after are meant to be played, not get you by.

Another slob truck driver would be Elektron Analogue 4, a POS which sounds like it looks, that is a box, it doesn't sound like a playable instrument, a slob truck driver

hmm i think he tries to get concepts out for zebra3 (for example the free reverb and here now the filters), this is all part for zebra3. but right now i think zebra3 will take ages to arrive.
i really like how uhe goes about trying new stuff, always be one step ahead in dsp coding, really trying to bring new stuff out.

NI and Roland in niche markets? :dunno:

I meant best analog emulation I had no specific gear in mind and I'm not aware of any other VSTi which beat Diva sonically. And yes my opinion is my opinion no more no less. :bleh:

    :woot:

    :dont:
I do not want to say fanboy. I like some of their products. I own Zebra, MFM2 and Satin.
I do not use Diva because I do not need it but it sounds killer (my opinion). I like Bazille and will buy it. I dont like Hive and Presswerk and find the Ubik fx mediocre too.

I do not judge a vst by it's company only by it's sound and useability... oh and by it's CP. :winker:
