Orfium started a couple months ago:

    https://www.orfium.com/

It is designed as a "reaction to" Soundcloud, Bandcamp and Reverbnation. I don't endorse it, but some might find it amenable. It's still in development, with kinks being ironed-out and features being debugged. Anyone can still download high-bitrate "paid" audio files via a browser plug-in; maybe they'll fix that.

I f'ing hate Revebnation. It's a nickel-and-diming scam. And it sends me e-mails even though I have my account set for it not to do so. I keep just one song on it, with a notice for people to go to my website or to my Bandcamp page instead.

Soundcloud tells me to "check out" other people's music because those artists' labels or publicists had paid Soundcloud to spam me, and it plays others' music after a couple plays of mine, or it posts ads for others' music on my music's page. Why do I have a Soundcloud account? For people to listen to my music; so I can publicize my music. F*ck me – I'm just an independent musician, and "only" have a free account.

I asked Bandcamp whom I had to fellate in order to get my music "promoted" on their site, but they wouldn't give me a straight answer (nor a gay one, for that matter). The "supported by" feature is embarrassing, and I don't want anyone to be able to leave comments on my music's pages. It also appeals to the canine aspect of human psychology – of being more inclined to listen to someone's music, or automatically esteem it more highly, if there are more icons for "supporters" or "followers" on one's page(s).

These sites are supposed to be the recourse for the independent musician, outside the Music Biz's oligarchic tyranny, but they're comporting themselves like the Music Biz, more and more - imposing conventions and regulations upon music which is supposed to be unconventional and unregulated. If there were a neutral, unencumbered "platform" for promoting and vending music (as Bandcamp had been before it went "social" and "promoted" and all that b/s), I'd waste yet another day of my life by uplooading all my music to it – and pray that it wouldn't be commercially co-opted and "social"-ized in a year or two.

And: I don't trust any site whose developers are too lazy to make a provision for one to join it without just logging-in with one's Facebook account.

So it makes you mad that you have to pay for promotion, is that it?

https://clyp.it/ and http://picosong.com/ I see used frequently for quickly sharing WIPs on various IRC channels. Of the two I like clyp.it best because it lets you see the track's waveform.

Sorry, myspace doesn't support MP3 in VBR, CBR only. It's nonsence for such old social "music" network as myspace. So when support of VBR will be added to myspace - then myspace will be in added to list. Fair play :)

https://mega.co.nz has an app for android that allows you to login to your account on your phone etc. and stream any mp3s that you have uploaded. Plus you get 50gb free storage.
