I will repeat... every DAW with MIDI capabilities ...one way or the another, result will be the same (maybe it will not be the simplest thing to do, but nevertheless!)
...even Maschine can do it and it's not DAW...
ex:
you have chord, draw octaves of every note in chord (for this ex, you don't need copying and slicing) eventually you will get that chord multiplied in octaves.
From there you just have to shrink them on grid, of beat that you are working, and proceed with drawing notes in lines of those notes, in every shape that you want... (waves, lines, saw, square... XD) ofc. you can stretch some notes, that some of them ringing while others running...
...And when you have feeling that you don't know what are you doing anymore, just calm, because once you hit play, everything will bi in harmony, maybe not in rhythm, but in harmony def. will!

EDIT: not for eyes of those who seek slicing capabilities, rather for those who seek same results!

I think what amazes some people with this "trick" is the creating an arpeggio from a chord by slicing. This is not something every DAW with MIDI capabilities can do.
Punching notes into the piano roll is not the point here.

 

to bad for them, then... ...but you are absolutely right ...it's better to slice notes in weird shapes than actually creat music...
