Well thats a shit way to start a day, finding out one of your idols who you grew up with has died.

So, whats your fav Bowie track?

Mine is one that most will probably never have heard but i always thought it was the best thing ever from the first time i heard it.

Ironically it was the B side of "Sorrow". :(

I find it hard to pick a favourite track from any of the artists I like. It's always a bunch of tracks that I like very much, and it's usually my favourite "at the moment", depending on how I feel at the moment. So "at the moment" I can't stop thinking about and listening to "Ashes to ashes". I know it sounds kinda corny... Well, death is corny. Life, too.

Hard to say which is the best, but I remember hearing ´Absolute Beginners´ for the first time in my teenage and been struck by a lightning. Only then I went for the his 70´s legends, but this song of his has touched me like no other.

thinking same thing my man... I remember when this came out with the vid... and feel it took the song to a different
level for me... MTV was relatively new at that point... the way he layered and produced this track was pretty creative,
( with an oddity synth line that just somehow works )
and the video only convinced me moreso, the best I can say ... a true original

    scary monsters indeed !

The whole first half (or LP side) of Low album. It made me realize how music was made, with parts working together; partly because they were rather unconventional. The lyrics were spare, but directly evocative. That's the album which caused me to imagine that I could make music of my own.

The song was written and originally recorded by Jacques Brel, via Scott Walker's version of Mort Schuman's translation:

I can find a song and album for almost every mood. TVC15 is a little gem, it seems perpetual somehow, just like the man himself.

Now he goes on, not only through his music, but through all of us who are listening.

Thank you Bowie, I'll keep on listening.

Bowie made so many great songs (melodies/lyrics) so its hard to pick one!

If I have to I´ll choose Life on Mars because its stunning chord progression wich is completly outstanding!

Ash to Ash is one of my favs, such a hauntingly beautiful melody especially the ending sends a chill down my spine every time I hear this.

quite impossible to pick just one song, think these 2 touched me the most, Space oddity was played at the funeral of one of my best friends about 21 years ago

very bizarre to learn of this a few hours after my b-day ended (the morning of the 11th) and even having played some of his songs during the night on the 10th of jan, this was not a cool b-day gift...
