I don't know why I'm bothering to argue this, but that's not true.

Much like too soon celebration of the PS3 being hacked "wide open" (only NOR/NAND hard flash downgrades on specific systems is possible), iLok2 could still be secure for all new releases. Anything already released/cracked before this date is in-the-wild, obviously, but that doesn't mean that developers will no longer choose to release under iLok. Empirical Labs (for instance) might still decide to release a new, never-before-seen plug under iLok2 and you'd never see it on the Z in any form. This is a totally plausible scenario.

Now... that's assuming the statement about iLok is truly accurate and not just PR. And it's also assuming that someone(s) determined to bypass any new security measures can't find a way to do so in the near future.

The point is, we won't know until we get there, but stating that the system has categorically failed cannot be safely done.

Edit: And to the "door" analogy... It's relevant if you replace the hinges, door, and frame with impact-resistant metal instead of balsa wood and then stock your house with mad amounts of valuables. I think as the owner of the house I would choose this route and not just leave the door open all the time because "well, someone broke in anyway, might as well just let the neighborhood in..."

and give away your products for free, in case you haven't noticed, every cracker or cracker wannabe is having a field day cracking his products including me myself, had Diva 1.3 cracked while it was still in beta, the reason no one released it was because they took pity on him, since it looked like he gave up and didn't bother to change protection anymore.
So better go with eLicenser and consult Xilslab.

 

This is actually correct as iZotope stuff is usually cracked easily as they don't use a very hard implementation of ilok(2) , I remember reading a thread on AS. Other stuff isn't.

Also, iZ uses a few other authorization methods.

 

That's the thing though. It wasn't at its best. Just because there was a vulnerability that they need to patch doesn't mean that the entire scheme is worthless.

It's like abandoning a security keypad because someone put talc on it to pick up the fingerprints. If you change the code and have everyone start wearing gloves then the problem is solved.

Edit: I know everyone with a grudge against iLok wants to celebrate its supposed death to the full, but it's a bit premature until we see a real response from vendors in the future.

And slightly off-the-point, maybe Pixie is an unstoppable godlike reverser that can bypass anything, and maybe Pixie just made one really solid observation in a strong system with a weak link that can be patched, in other words an act of supreme skill combined with a bit of luck. Unless you were over Pixie's shoulder then none of you know. You wouldn't know Pixie if they waved hello to you on the street.

They must've changed the protection in 12.4 as I would've guessed audioutopia wouldve easily cracked the update by now. They probably got word.

@ddoctor - Sorry, something doesn't seem right with your post. Why do you need information on this subject?
I'd understand this move from long-time member of this community, willing to get better at reverse engineering, but coming from freshly registered user, this comes out very suspicious, especially asking users to PM you the info!
Seeing yours as now second recent account trying to dig in information about the crack, this sounds very much like corporate spying.
Therefore I took the liberty to remove your post.

I'd highly advice all users not to trust strangers who ask you such questions over PM. Use your conscience folks!

i want just to second @Andrew , although i am new to the forum (november 30), since AudioUtopia releases some fresh one day new users were asking if iLok2 would have been cracked for Mac, in suspicious ways...

Has anyone heard from any devs on this situation? I'd be interested to hear their thoughts and concerns.

 

Every developer is celebrating it, because finally everyone can take their plugins and "test" it before buying... their sales skyrocketed.

For example many guys using fl studio can't live without an AirEQ and all reverbs anymore, after trying it before buying, so everyone bought it, thanks to warez they don't need to go to NAMM and other shows to promote their products, all they need is warez.

They're scratching their heads now why they didn't sell their plugins for 10-50$ with a simple serial protection, Steven Slate in particularly.

 

lol, but might me true. it worked for fruity loops and cubase, cracks do promote. I my self scroll the audeoz for releases, some apps I would not have know about if it was not for warez release.
