    Hello,
I'm looking for some VST equalizer which can boost 30-50kHz range for acoustic guitars (something like Spectrum Filter in Goldwave). 99% of all EQs ends on 20kHz, 22kHz or 24kHz (at least the ones in Waves and ReaEQ). Ideally it would be perfect if it has full 96kHz range for 192kHz wavs, but 50kHz is sufficent.

    Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hello,

could you tell us, for what this would be good for?
    Serious question.

I'm aware of Nyquist theory as well as human hearing range (it doesn't end on 20kHz). Let's say I want it for one specific purpose.

    LOL
maybe you should start reading again.. ..and no there' no EQ out there over 24khz guess why? :D

you mistake sampling frequency eg 192kHz with hearable frequency-range of humans 20 hz - 20kHz.

In this case You have to create such a uniqe EQ by Yourself.
I'm afraid You don't quite understand what You're talking about.

    Ignorance is bliss.
    No offense.

Well tell us this specific purpose then, and don't leave us in the dark!

WOW!!! The Lesson here, is to do SOME homework before you inquire about a subject. Boosting 40kHz will sweeten your vocals......in a dream.

Even if his magic ears could go up to 40kHz, there are no amplifiers, monitors or headphones that would be able to reproduce what his magic ears are capable of hearing

Im not sure about vst's, but Massenburg Designworks for pro tools is what you're looking for. The bands all go up to 40kHz. It's also worth noting that the Avalon VT 737 has a high shelf at 32kHz and the NTI nightpro which is famous for it's 'air band' also utilizes above 20 kHz frequencies.

I feel absolutely embarrassed for all of you, especially the one that said something to the extent of "one of the dumbest questions asked on an audio forum". It just goes to show how eager and stupid most of you are

    Thanks jobs, finally some answer

After a lot of research, I've found some VSTs - HarmoniEQ from Voxengo goes up to 38kHz and FABFilter PRO-Q goes up to 30kHz.
I think that HarmoniEQ will do what I wanted. Anyway I always could make stem track in Reaper with applied equalization from GoldWave (Spectrum Filter goes up to 100kHz).

    I can't see why...

An average human can hear upto 20Khz when he's 20. At 40 this higher limit is about 15KHz or so. And when he is 50 or 60 this drops down to 10KHz. Also, just for your info, the VERY tiny % of the music which is above 15 or 16KHz is also VERY low in level. To figure out what I mean, think that FM radio stations have their high limit at about 14KHz or so (because 15KHz is half of 30KHz, the standard MPX frequency they all use).

Nevertheless, if you are --for some strange reason- still interested in EQing at 40KHz, I love doing all kinds of strange audio experiments and manipulations, so I may have a creative "solution" to this:

    1) Lower your music's pitch/spedd to half. That is, after processing it must sound like it's at half speed.
    2) Do your EQ at 20KHz now
    3) Perform DSP again on the music to double its pitch/speed so it goes back to normal

BUT, by doing this, you must know that:

    1) The EQ you did at 20KHz when it was at half speed is LOST now because of Mr Nyquist (that is, if you are using 44.1KHz sampling rate). You may overcome this is you are using ALL THE TIME a 96KHz or higher SR.
    2) You LOST some of the lower end/subsonic frequencies during this procedure. Probably not an issue, 'cause frequencies lower than 16 or 20Hz may only be figured out by humans as a VIBRATION, *NOT* as a sound (that is; you FEEL it with you skin, NOT with your ears). I've been a DJ and a technology geek for 30+ years; I know what I'm talking about, believe me...

Now, please enlighten all of us:

---> WHY DO YOU WANNA EQ A FREQUENCY BAND WHERE THERE IS ***NO MUSIC*** and which CAN'T be heard???.

    Eagerly awaiting for your answer...

    Best wishes!

I would like to add something about the frequencies, so people would get better mixes. There's too much fascination with the frequencies, especially of the extreme kind. I do mastering as well as mixing, and people say my work is awesome. The primary reason for that is that my "obsession" is only with the frequencies we can hear... and trust me the frequencies between 100Hz to 10000Hz are the most important ones. I do everything in 96kHz/24bit, but that doesn't mean I'm doing anything to the frequencies that are irrelevant to the mix, except cutting them with the low pass and high pass filters most of the time. ;)

remember, if you get the 100Hz-10000Hz right, you're on a roll for a great mix, and other frequencies outside this range usually just fall into place just right naturally on their own. If not, you can always bring them up or down in mastering. :) Cheers!

p.s. yes, HarmoniEQ from Voxengo does it, and I'm actually quite fond of that particular EQ...

HarmoniEQ from Voxengo does go up to 38Khz, but I suspect it might actually be doing some harmonic exciting, which generates new frequency components that you can actually hear at lower frequencies. I could be wrong though,

I do not understand why people laugh underside to provide solutions.
I think everyone understands that the human ear hears of 20-20kHz. We also know that this depends on each and according to age descends ....
    But the question is.

There are some EQ VST EQ that allows the 40 kHz?
Andrew only ask for these, no ask if audible or not.

I think it's best not to laugh if nothing is known.

In the market there are eq vst allow equalize beyond the 20 khz. why?
I guess everyone laugh know the answer.

    HarmoniEQ
    Nice EQ
    Pro Q

If somebody ask for specific plugins or anything.
"I need a plugin that make X transformation, modification or anything to a sound...."

I do not know if a plugin does what you ask or not, does not mean that I can laugh.

Please, answer with a solution or simply not laugh. RESPECT. *yes*

    I said: "I can't see why..."

So I'm NOT disrespectful. Just asking ***WHY***...

I just asked because this shocked me. And I'll be glad to know a logical reason. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for his answer (?!).

BTW: Yes, myself I actually *DID* answer him with a trick and some tech info...

I did not mean with your answer Audiotriger. Your answer was correct.
I'm not one to judge whether is good or bad.
I can also wonder why I want to equalize at 40 khz. I have never needed *yes* , but I will not laugh, I will try to help, search the internet and give solution to the question of forum user.
If you think you know everything, will not learn anything new. I can always learn.
